RRB ALP Recruitment 2026 Short Notification Out, 11127 New Vacancy, Apply from 15 May

As the previous recruitment is still ongoing and the Ministry of Railways has come up with new RRB ALP Vacancy for the year 2026-27. A short notification for CEN 01/2026 has been released with the announcement of the recruitment of 10th pass candidates for 11,127 Assistant Loco Pilot vacancies.

Till now, the total number of vacancies, application dates, age limit and salary has been notified, while further details will be released along with the detailed RRB ALP Notification 2026. The board will start accepting the applications from 15th May 2026 onwards at www.rrbapply.gov.in.

RRB ALP Notification 2026-27 Out

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), on behalf of the Ministry of Railways, has released a short notification across employment newspapers depicting the number of vacancies, registration dates, salary, and eligibility. This is going to be golden opportunity for the candidates who haven't qualified in last recruitment. The short recruitment notification for RRB ALP CEN 01/2026 has been released with the schedule for online registration dates. Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) will open the applications for 11,127 Assistant Loco Pilots from 15th May to 14th June 2026.

RRB ALP Educational Qualification

The candidates who apply for the post of RRB ALP must have the following minimum educational qualifications to be eligible for the respective posts:

RRB ALP Age Limit (as on 01/07/2026)

The age of the applicants for the post of RRB ALP (Assistant Loco Pilot) must be within the age limit as specified between 18 to 30 years as on 01/07/2026, which means you must fall in this age group at the time of application. The candidates should have been born between the years as mentioned in the table to be eligible to apply for RRB ALP Recruitment 2026.

RRB ALP Physical and Medical Standard Requirement

Steps to Fill RRB ALP Application Form 2026

The candidates can submit their application forms for RRB ALP Recruitment 2026 through online mode from the official website https://www.rrbcdg.gov.in/. The steps to apply online for the RRB ALP recruitment 2026 application form are given below:

Step 1: Create an Account

• Open the browser and visit the official website of the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) and go to the other RRB page, https://www.rrbcdg.gov.in/other-rrb.php
• On the homepage, click on the link that reads "Click here to apply for pay level-2 post of Assistant Loco Pilot" under the CEN-01/2026 (ALP) - Link for application.
• A new page appears on the screen. Click on the Apply button and choose Create an Account.
• For the ‘Create an Account’ form, fill in your basic details, for example, Personal Information, Aadhar Verification, and Contact Details, and create a password. (Password should be a combination of Capital letters, small letters, special characters, and numbers).

Step 2: Application Form

• Candidates must log in using a registered mobile number mail ID, and password to complete the application form.
• Candidates must select the RRB for which they wish to apply and select the posts and zones within the chosen RRB.
• Enter other details, including essential educational qualification details.
• Upload scanned images of their photograph, signature, and SC/ST certificate (if applicable) according to the specifications given in the form.
• Candidates must select the trade for Part B of CBT-2, exercise the order of post preference and complete the declaration.
• After filling in all the necessary fields carefully, applicants can see the preview of their application form. They should go through all the details and click on ‘Final Submission’

Step 3: Fee Payment

• After completing step I and step II, the candidate has to pay the requisite examination fee.
• The fee will be paid online through Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card, or UPI Services.
• The confirmation page of the online Application Form will be generated only after successful payment by the candidate.
• Download and take a print copy of the confirmation page of the application form for future reference.

RRB ALP Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

The candidates will be selected as per the RRB ALP Recruitment 2026 Selection Process guidelines. Railway Zone and RRB-wise vacancies are released along with the notification pdf. Candidates can choose only one RRB and indicate their preference for the Railway zones. The post-wise selection process with stages has been tabulated below- 

RRB ALP Recruitment 2026-27 Exam Pattern

RRB ALP 2026 selection process will be based on 4 rounds of exams, which are CBT 1, CBT 2, CBAT and Document Verification. The exam patterns CBT 1, CBT 2 and CBAT are discussed below along with the details syllabus.

RRB ALP CBT 1 Exam Pattern

RRB ALP 2026 CBT 1 exam will be conducted online mode for 75 marks. There will be 75 questions, which have to be completed in 60 minutes. The questions in the Computer-Based Test (CBT) 1 exam are asked from Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness of Current Affairs. 

Marking Scheme: 1 mark for each correct answer.
Negative Marking:  ⅓ mark for each incorrect answer.

The minimum pass percentage for the CBT 1 Exam is as follows: 

• UR & EWS-40%
• OBC (NCL)-30%
• SC-30%
• ST- 25%.

Note: Candidates who clear the CBT 1 exam, will selected for the next round. Shortlisting of candidates for the CBT 2 exam (Second Stage) shall be done RRB-wise at the rate of 15 (fifteen) times the vacancies for that RRB and It will be based on their merit in the CBT 1 exam. The marks will be normalized in all the stages of the exam that involve multiple shifts. CBT 1 exam will only be a screening exam for shortlisting eligible candidates for CBT 2. The CBT-1 marks shall not be counted while preparing the final merit list.

RRB ALP CBT 2 Exam Pattern

RRB ALP 2026-27 CBT 2 will also be conducted in online mode. The total time duration for the CBT 2 exam is 2 hours and 30 minutes. There will be two parts to the CBT 2 exam which are Part A and Part B. Part A covers questions from Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness of Current Affairs and Part B will be based on Relevant Trades. Marking Scheme: 1 mark for each correct answer, negative marking of ⅓ mark for each incorrect answer.

Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) 

Candidates who clear the CBT 2 and 2 exams will be called for round 3 i.e. Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT), and after that final selection list will be prepared. There shall be no negative marking in the Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) round.

RRB ALP Salary Structure

As per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) pay scale, the starting salary for an Assistant Loco Pilot ranges from Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 35,000 per month. This amount may vary depending on the place of posting and other allowances. The selected candidates will be entitled to Level 2 of the Pay Matrix Level 2, with an initial pay scale of INR 19,900 along with other allowances including-

1. House Rent Allowance (HRA)
2. Dearness Allowance (DA)
3. Running Allowance (Based on the km travelled)
4. Transport Allowance
5. New Pension Scheme (10% Deduction) etc.

RRB ALP Recruitment 2026 Participating RRBs

Through RRB ALP Recruitment 2026, the candidates will be selected as Assistant Loco Pilots in the following Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs). This list has been released along with the official notification. 

RRB ALP 2026 Admit Card

The candidates whose applications are submitted successfully will be issued with RRB ALP 2026 Admit Card around 4 days before the exam date. RRB will also provide the candidates with city intimation facilities around 10 days before the exam date. The information will also be shared through registered SMS and email. 

RRB ALP 2026 Answer Key

After the completion of CBT 1 and CBT 2 Exams, the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) will release the provisional answer key through which candidates can calculate their approximate marks and also raise objections. After analysing the objections, the final answer key will be released.

RRB ALP 2026 Result

After the completion of each stage for the RRB ALP 2026 Exam, the officials will declare the RRB ALP Result online at its official website announcing the qualifying status of the candidates for the next stage. The final result for RRB ALP Recruitment 2026 will be prepared based on marks scored in the CBT 2 and CBAT. The candidates will be able to check their results online as no information will be shared through post or any other means regarding RRB ALP Results. 

RRB ALP 2026 Cut Off

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) will also be releasing category-wise RRB ALP cut-off marks for Assistant Loco Pilot posts along with RRB ALP Result. The candidates can refer to the previous year's cut-off marks to have a reference for the exam level for the upcoming RRB ALP Exam.
