The Meghalaya Police Department has announced a total of 2968 vacancies for the posts of UBSI, Fireman, Constable, etc. Out of the total vacant posts, 1494 vacancies are for the posts of Armed Branch Constable/Battalion Constable/MPRO GD/Constable Handyman.

Steps to Apply Online for Meghalaya Police Recruitment 2024

Candidates who are confused and finding it difficult to apply for the Meghalaya Police Vacancy 2024, must follow the complete step-by-step procedure provided here and fill out the application form.

1. Open any web browser and go to the official website of Meghalaya Police Department i.e. https://megpolice.gov.in/ through it.

2. Click on the ‘Notice Board’ tab available on the homepage.

3. Select the ‘Recruitment’ section from the drop-down menu under the notice board tab.

4. Now, click on the ‘Online Application- Recruitment 2024 Process’ link. A new page will appear on the screen.

5. Click on the link for the online application for Meghalaya Police Recruitment 2024 from the screen.

6. Now, firstly register yourself by entering the details asked such as name, mobile number, etc.

7. Upload necessary documents like passport-sized colored photographs, identity certificate, certificate of SC/ST (if any), certificate of highest qualification, etc.

8. Complete the registration form by filling out all other relevant fields.

9. Now verify the mobile number through OTP sent over the registered mobile number.

Application Fees

The candidates are required to pay Rs. 150/- as an application fee while filling out the application form for Meghalaya Police Recruitment 2024. The application fee amount to be paid for all the posts is the same, every candidate needs to pay the specified fees else the application form will be rejected and the candidate will not be allowed to appear for the selection process. The application fee for SI, Constable, and other posts has to be paid by the candidates through the payment gateway provided by the authorities.

Eligibility Criteria

The parameters that are taken into consideration while evaluating the eligibility of the candidates for various posts under Meghalaya Police Vacancy 2024 are age limit, educational qualifications, and physical measurements. Only the candidate who fulfills all the parameters as per the respective posts will further be considered otherwise he/she will be disqualified.

Age Limit (As on 01/01/2024)

The candidates who are a minimum of 21 years of age are not more than 27 years as on 01/01/2024 are eligible for the posts of UB Sub Inspector (UBSI) posts, the minimum and the maximum age limit for other posts in Meghalaya Police Recruitment 2024 varies. Candidates belonging to  SC/ST/OST categories are provided 5 years of relaxation upon upper age limit.

Educational Qualifications

The candidates applying for the posts of driver constable, armed branch constable/battalion constable/constable handyman must have passed class 9th to be eligible for the posts, educational qualifications for other posts have been provided below.

Note:- Those applying for the posts of Driver Constable & Driver Fireman must have an HMV/LMV driving license. 

Physical Measurements

To get selected for various posts in the Meghalaya Police Department, the candidate’s physical measurements must be as per those specified by the official authorities. The recruitment body has notified that weight and chest measurements will not be taken into consideration, only the height of the candidates will be measured. For the male candidates belonging to the general category, the height should be 162 cm, and for the female candidates of the general category, it should be 157 cm.

Meghalaya Police Selection Process

For the selection of eligible candidates out of a large number of applications, the recruitment body selects the candidates by conducting a selection process which involves three stages for the posts released under Meghalaya Police Recruitment 2024. The first stage involves a physical efficiency or physical measurement test in which the physical fitness of the candidate is evaluated by considering certain norms, selected candidates have to appear for the written examination, and at last, candidates clearing the previous two stages will appear for the personal interview.

Meghalaya Police Exam Pattern

The exam pattern for the Meghalaya Police Recruitment 2024 is different for different category posts. Candidates must be aware of the recruitment exam pattern for the respective posts for which they are applying. Post-wise marks for all three stages have been provided below.

For UBSI & UB category posts

The total marks for the recruitment test for the selection of eligible candidates for UBSI & UB category posts are 450 involving a physical efficiency test of 100 marks.

1. Physical Efficiency Test:- 100 marks
2. Written Exam:- 300 marks
3. Personal Interview:- 50 marks

For AB category posts

To select candidates for the AB category posts, various tests have to be conducted and the total for all of them is 450 out of which there is a personal interview for 50 marks and a written exam for 150 marks.

1. Physical Efficiency Test:- 250 marks
2. Written Exam:- 150 marks
3. Personal Interview:- 50 marks

Exam Pattern for UBSI Posts

Candidates appearing for the written examination for UB Sub-Inspector posts for a total of 300 marks including three papers for general English, elementary mathematics & basic science.

Exam Pattern for UB Category Posts

The posts that come under the UB category are UB constable, driver fireman, fireman, MPRO operator, fireman mechanic/mechanic, and BN operator. Candidates applying for any of these posts have to appear for a written examination which will be for 300 marks. 

Exam Pattern for AB Category Posts

The posts that come under the AB category are AB constable, MPRO GD constable, constable handyman, and driver constable. Candidates need to appear for a written examination of 150 marks to get selected for the above-mentioned posts. 

Meghalaya Police Salary Structure

The candidates hired for the UB Sub-Inspector posts receive Rs. 37,800 to Rs. 86,400/- as their monthly pay including some additional perks & benefits, the pay scale of the other posts have been provided in the table bel
