CSIR NET June Notification 2026- Eligibility
Candidates’ eligibility for the Joint CSIR-UGC NET June Examination 2026 will be determined based on educational qualification and age limit. Candidates must have a postgraduate degree from a recognized university with minimum qualifying marks.
Educational Qualification
- Candidates must have passed a Master’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university.
- General/EWS candidates Minimum Marks – 55% marks
- OBC-NCL / SC / ST / PwD / Third Gender Minimum marks – 50%
- Final year / Result Awaited candidates can also apply provisionally. They must complete their Master’s within two years of the result declaration (one year if qualifying only for Ph.D. admission).
- 4-year Bachelor’s degree holders (with at least 75% marks, 70% for reserved categories) can apply for JRF and Ph.D. admission, but not for the Assistant Professor category.
Age Limit
- Assistant Professor – No upper age limit
- Admission to PhD – There is no upper age limit in applying for the Joint CSIR-UGC-NET for Admission to PhD.
- JRF Maximum Age – 30 years as on the 1st day of the month in which the examination is concluded (a relaxation of up to 5 years is provided to candidates belonging to OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third gender categories and to women applicants

What are the Posts in CSIR NET?
Through the CSIR NET exam, the candidates are appointed to the post of Assistant Professor or the position of a Research Scholar based on their preference and qualifying marks. The candidates can get the difference between these two positions below:
- Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): The candidates who will qualify for the JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor and Research Scholar.
