BIS Scientist B Recruitment 2025 Summary

Candidates who have not exceeded the age of 30 years are eligible to apply for all the disciplines. Also, candidates who have completed their Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology or equivalent from a recognized university with GATE 2023, 2024 or 2025 Score Card are eligible to apply for the BIS Scientist B Recruitment 2025. Candidates will be selected based on the Gate score and the Interview. The selected candidates must sign a bond to serve for at least 3 years. If they leave early, they must repay six months’ salary (or full salary if less than 6 months served).

BIS Scientist B Eligibility 2025

Candidates applying for the BIS Recruitment 2025 must carefully read the eligibility criteria, which include age limits and educational qualifications. These requirements must be fulfilled by the candidates if not meeting them at any stage can lead to disqualification

Educational Qualifications

Candidates are required to present a valid GATE Scorecard from the year 2023, 2024, or 2025

• Engineering Disciplines (CE, CS, EE, EC, ES): B.E./B.Tech or equivalent in Engineering with at least 60% marks (or 50% for SC/ST)
• Chemistry Discipline (CY): Master’s Degree in Natural Sciences (Chemistry only) with at least 60% marks (or 50% for SC/ST)

Age Criteria (as of 23/05/2025)

• The maximum age limit is 30 years for all disciplines
• BIS departmental candidates (already working in BIS) with the required qualifications can apply up to the age of 50 years.
• Age relaxation is available as per Central Government rules:

1. SC/ST: 5 years
2. OBC: 3 years
3. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (UR): 10 years
4. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (SC/ST): 15 years
5. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (OBC): 13 years

BIS Scientist B Selection Process 2025

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has defined the selection process for BIS Scientist B in two stages:

1. GATE Marks: Candidates will be shortlisted for an Interview based on their GATE score from the year 2023, 2024, or 2025.
2. Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview after successful document verification. The details of the interview, including date, time, and venue, will be sent to you through email and, mobile number.

The final selection is based on 85% weightage to the gate score and 15% weightage to the Interview marks. In case of tie, the Gate score or age will be considered. After the selection, candidates will have to go through the 2-year probation period.

BIS Scientist B Salary 2025

The starting salary at the time of joining for Scientist B in Delhi is around Rs. 114945 per month under pay level 10. Along with this, they will get extra perks and allowances as per the 7th Pay Commission guidelines.
