JoSAA Counselling 2024 – Registration Dates, Process, Seat Allotment

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is set to start the registration process for the JoSAA Counselling 2024 around June 10, 2024. All the students who scored good enough marks in the JEE Mains and JEE Advanced exams can register online for counselling at the official website of JoSAA – josaa.nic.in.

The authorities are yet to release a detailed notification with the schedule for conducting the JoSAA Counselling 2024. However, it is finalized that the counselling process will be conducted in 6 rounds of seat allotment. Every student who gets their seat allocated will have to choose from freeze, float, or slide options. Students opting for the freeze option will have to report to their respective institutions and complete the admission process.

What is JoSAA?

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is an authority set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) to manage and smoothen the process of admission for over 100 of institutions in India. This authority takes care of the admission process for major institutions, including IITs, NITs, IIITs, and many Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs).

JoSAA is a single counselling platform for admission into all these major institutions. The objective of MHRD behind going for JoSAA was to make the admission process more smooth, more effective, more efficient and more transparent while ensuring that no vacant seat is left once the admissions are closed.

All the engineering aspirants who have qualified for the JEE Main and JEE Advanced are eligible to apply to participate in the JoSAA counselling 2024. This year, counselling will be conducted to allocate more than 50,000 engineering seats in some of the top-rated and renowned engineering institutions in India.

JoSAA Counselling 2024 Dates and Schedule

JoSAA 2024 Counselling Process

The process for the counselling and then admission based on the JoSAA 2024 is as mentioned below:

1. All aspiring students with qualifying marks in JEE Main and JEE Advanced need to register themselves at the official website of JoSAA 2024 – josaa.nic.in;
2. Once the registration process is completed, fill out the choices of branches and colleges in the order of preference;
3. Done selecting your preferred choices, lock them out, and take the printout for future reference;
4. The students will get seats allocated based on their candidature and the choices filled;
5. Reach out to the final allocated institution and get your documents verified;
6. Once the document verification is completed, pay the fee and complete all the formalities and your admission is done. Congrats!

JoSAA Counselling 2024 Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to take part in the JoSAA Counselling 2024, students need to have passed the JEE Main and JEE Advanced exams with the minimum required criteria. The requirements for getting approval for appearing in JoSAA Counselling 2024 are:

• Must have qualified for the JEE Advanced 2024 for academic programs at IITs and ISM;
• Must have qualified for the JEE Advanced 2024 for preparatory courses at IITs and ISM;
• The student needs have rank in the JEE Main 2024 Paper-1 for BTech/BE at IITs, NITs, IITs, and Other-GFTIs;
• Must have secured a rank in JEE Main 2024 Paper-2 for BArch/BPlanning programs at BTech/BE at IITs, NITs, IITs, and Other-GFTIs;
• Should have completed 12th class education while having mathematics as one of the main subjects;

Documents Required for JoSAA Counselling 2024

Students appearing for the JoSAA Counselling 2024 need to have some basic documents ready with them, such as:

• Three passport-size photographs similar to one uploaded in JEE Main 2023 application form;
• Candidate Undertaking;
• Valid photo Identity Card;
• Category Certificate (if applicable);
• Registration and Filled Choices for Seat Allotment;
• PwD Certificate (if applicable);
• Provisional JoSAA seat allotment letter 2024;
• OCI Certificate or PIO Card (if applicable);
• Class 12 (or equivalent) Mark Sheet and Pass Certificate;
• JEE Main Score Card 2024;
• Proof of Seat Acceptance Fee Payment by e-challan or Internet Banking through SBI;
• JEE Main Admit Card 2024;
• Class 10th Standard Mark Sheet or Date of Birth Proof;
• Medical Certificate;

Once a student gets a seat allocated to their name after the JoSAA Counselling 2024, they will be required to pay a seat acceptance fee, which will be utilized at the time of admission. The share of the fee that a student has to pay varies as per the categories listed below:

The process for checking the JoSAA Seat Allotment 2024 result is listed below:

• Search for the official website of JoSAA 2024 – josaa.nic.in;
• Click on the tab “view seat allotment result”;
• Fill the form with your JEE Main/JEE Advanced application number, password and security pin;
• Press the “login” button and your seat allotment result will be displayed on the screen;
• Check and download the result;
