The Delhi High Court has directed the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) to revise the CLAT Result 2025 which was released on December 08, 2024. The decision came as a result of the hearing of a petition filed by 17-year-old candidate, Aditya Singh (Minor) vs Consortium of NLUs regarding objection against the result announced by the Consortium for the exam held to admit candidates for the 5-year LLB course.
Justice Jyoti Singh after going through all the evidence directed the Consortium to make corrections to Question number 14 and 100 of the SET A of the CLAT Question Paper 2025. She mentioned “The errors in question Nos.14 and 100 are demonstrably clear and shutting a blind eye to the same would be an injustice to the petitioner albeit this Court is conscious of the fact that it may impact the result of other candidates”
The court has directed the Consortium to transfer the benefit to the candidates who marked option “C” as the answer for Question 14 of SET A. “Since the Court has upheld option ‘C’ as the correct answer, which was also the view of the Expert Committee, the benefit cannot be restricted only to the petitioner and will extend to all candidates who have opted for option ‘C’,” the court mentioned.
In context with Question number 100, the court stated “Question number 100 will be excluded as correctly advised by the Expert Committee and the result will be accordingly revised.”
Consortium’s response and next steps
The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) initially argued with the court that its court lacked jurisdiction and that courts should not interfere in expert academic assessments. The court dismissed all these contentions and ordered the body to revise all the errors that happened in the examination conducted in its jurisdiction.
As the Consortium will now have to go through the result revision process it is expected that the result of CLAT Counselling 2025 which was scheduled to be out on December 26, 2024, might get delayed however the Consortium said, “We acknowledge that this development may create some uncertainty, and we assure you that the Consortium is committed to ensuring transparency and fairness in the process.”
