JEE Mains Eligibility Criteria 2024: The National Testing Agency has uploaded the JEE Main 2024 Eligibility Criteria on its official website www.jeemain.nta.ac.in with the information bulletin. Before registration for the JEE Main 2024, it is advisable for candidates to know the latest Eligibility Criteria for JEE Mains 2024. To appear for the JEE Mains Exam, candidates must complete or pursue the intermediate or 10+2 education in science background. JEE Mains Eligibility Criteria 2024

On November 1, 2023, NTA commenced the JEE Main Registration 2024 for all the students who want to get admission into BTech/BE and other engineering undergraduate courses. The last date to register at www.jeemain.nta.ac.in is December 04, 2023. Along with the latest criteria for the JEE Mains 2024, NTA has declared the JEE Mains Exam Date for both sessions in January and April. Only candidates who have fulfilled all the criteria can appear for the BE/BTech engineering entrance exam. Any ineligibility can lead to disqualification of candidates for the JEE Mains Exams.

JEE Mains 2024 Eligibility Criteria
Course Required Criteria
BE/BTech Passed 12th exam or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subjects.
BArch No candidate shall be admitted to an architecture course unless he has passed an exam at the end of the 10+2 scheme of the exam with at least 50%.

Aggregate marks in PCM and also at least 50% marks in aggregate of the 10+2 level examination.

Passed the 10+3 Diploma Examination with Mathematics as a compulsory subject with at least 50 percent. marks in aggregate.

JEE Mains Eligibility – Nationality

The candidates who want to appear in the JEE Mains Exam 2024 must be an Indian citizen. Foreign nationals, as well as NRIs (Non-Resident Indians), PIOs (Persons of Indian Origin), and OCIs (Overseas Citizens of India) are also eligible to apply for the JEE Main Exam 2024.

JEE Mains Eligibility – Age Criteria

There is no age limit for the candidates to appear in the JEE Mains Exam. The candidates who have passed the class 12/equivalent examination in 2022, 2023, or appearing in 2024 irrespective of their age can appear in JEE Main 2024 examination. Also, the candidates who want to get admission into a specific institute may be required to fulfill their age criteria.

JEE Mains Eligibility – Qualifying Exam

To be eligible for the JEE Mains 2024 examination, candidates must have passed their 10+2 or equivalent examination. Additionally, candidates must have secured a minimum aggregate of 75% (65% for SC/ST) or be in the top 20 percentile of their respective boards.   1. For B.E / B.Tech: The candidates should have passed 10+2 with physics and mathematics as their compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational subject.
  2. For  B.Arch: The candidates should have passed 10+2 with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry as compulsory subjects.
  3. For B.Planning: The candidates should have passed 10+2 with Mathematics.

JEE Mains Eligibility – Years of Appearance

  • Candidates who have passed the Class 10+2/equivalent exam in 2022, and 2023, or those who are appearing for the same in 2024, are eligible to appear in JEE Main 2024.
  • Candidates who passed the Class 12 or equivalent examination in 2021 or before as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2024 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE Main 2024.

JEE Mains Eligibility Criteria- Aggregate Marks

Here, students can find the minimum aggregate marks required to get admission into NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs through CSAB for BE/BTech, BArch, and BPlanning via JEE Mains 2024.

Admission into NITs, IIITs and CFTIs

  • Students should have secured at least 75% marks in the Class 12 exam or be in the top 20 percentile in the exam conducted by respective Boards. For SC/ST students, the qualifying marks should be 65% in the Class 12 exam.

JEE Mains Eligibility Criteria: Subjects

  1. B.E/B.Tech: Applicants must have passed the qualifying examination with Physics, Mathematics, and any one of the Chemistry, Biotechnology, or Technical Vocational Subjects.
  2. B.Arch: Applicants should have passed the qualifying exam with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
  3. B. Plan: Applicants must have passed the qualifying examination in Mathematics.

JEE Mains Eligibility Criteria- Qualifying Exams

  • The final examination (10+2 system), is conducted by any recognized Central/ State Board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (ISCE), New Delhi, etc.
  • Intermediate or 2-year Pre-University exam conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
  • The final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling has a minimum of five subjects.
  • Any Public School/ Board/ University examination in India or in any foreign country is recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  • Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Vocational Examination.
  • A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State board of technical education of a minimum of three years duration.
  • General Certificate Education examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
  • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
  • Candidates who completed the class 12 (or equivalent) exam outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to the effect that the exam they have passed is equivalent to the class 12 exam.
  • In case the class 12 exam is not a public exam, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) exam earlier.

JEE Mains Eligibility Criteria- State Code

‘State code of eligibility’ refers to the state from which the candidate has passed the Class 12 (or equivalent) qualifying examination, which qualifies them to participate in JEE Main 2024. The State code of eligibility does not take into account the place of residence or the candidate’s native place.

For example: In the case of a candidate appearing at a New Delhi institution, and residing in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, the candidate’s state code of eligibility will be Delhi, NOT Uttar Pradesh.

JEE Mains Eligibility Criteria For Droppers

  • There will be no age limit for JEE Main 2024 eligibility criteria for droppers.
  • The students must have passed their class 12th exam in 2022, 2023, or 2024. Every student will be allowed three consecutive attempts for JEE Main 2024 examination.
  • The students must have secured a minimum JEE Mains 2024 qualifying score.
