The All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Law University, Delhi (NLU) every year to recruit students for admission into integrated, master-level, or doctorate-level law courses. The AILET Application Form 2026 to appear for the AILET Exam 2026 has been opened for admission into courses like BA LLB (Hons.), BCom LLB (Hons.), LLM, etc.

AILET Eligibility Criteria 2026
The minimum eligibility requirements for the aspirants of the AILET 2026 exam differ based on the type and level of the courses; hence should be read carefully. In general, it can be said that any candidate who has completed 12th class or is in the final semester can complete the registration process for 5 year LLB course, while for the LLM course, it is required that the aspirant must have completed the LLB course from a recognized university.
The doctorate-level aspirants are asked to show their master’s courses passing certificates and experience in the relevant disciplines. Similarly, for foreign nationals, there are certain requirements that need to be fulfilled, as explained in-depth in the article below.

AILET Eligibility Criteria for BA LLB (Hons)
- Passing certificate of class 10+2 or equivalent education from a recognized board
- The general category candidates require 45% of a minimum score
- OBC category candidates are given a discount of 3% taking the minimum required score count to 42%
- For the SC/ST/PwD candidates, the minimum required marks are 40%
- All foreign nationals need to pass the higher secondary school examination or equivalent from an approved board
- A minimum of 65% marks is required by foreign nationals to be eligible

AILET Eligibility Criteria for BCom LLB (Hons) Non-Residential
- Mandatory to carry the passing certificate of class 12th or an equivalent level of education from a recognized board or institution
- A minimum of 45% score is required for the general category candidates
- Candidates belonging to the OBC category get a 3% discount; hence, they need 42% of marks
- For the SC/ST/PwD category of candidates, a discount of 5% is offered by the authorities; therefore, they are required to score 40% from their previous qualifications
- The Foreign Nationals need to have a minimum score of 65% from their previous qualifications from recognized institutions or boards

AILET Eligibility Criteria for LL.M (One Year)
- Applicants need to have passed their LLB or an equivalent course from a recognized institution before applying for admission
- A minimum of 50% score is required from the general and OBC category candidates
- The SC/ST/PwD category candidates get a discount of 5% taking the marks requirement to 45%
- Foreign nationals are required to earn a degree of LLB or equivalent course from a UGC or an Association of Indian Universities recognized institution
- A minimum of 55% or equivalent grade is required from the foreign nationals

AILET Eligibility Criteria for MA in Intellectual Property Law and Management
- Candidates need to pursue 2 consecutive bachelor-level courses, among which one should be from a relevant discipline, or
- A 5-years integrated course in the relevant discipline from a recognized institution
- A minimum of 55% aggregate score is required from the general and OBC category candidates
- The SC/ST/PwD category candidates get 5% discount, taking the required marks count to 50%
AILET Eligibility Criteria 2026 for LLM in Intellectual Property Law and Management
- Passing the LLB or equivalent course is mandatory from a recognized university or institution
- General and OBC category candidates require a score of 50%
- From the SC/ST/PwD category candidates, 45% marks are required from the previous qualification
AILET Eligibility Criteria for PhD
- Passing a master’s degree from a recognized university is mandatory
- A minimum of 55% or equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale is needed from the general and OBC category candidates
- The SC/ST/PwD category candidates get a compensation of 5%. Therefore, they require a minimum score of 50% is equivalent to grade ‘B’ on the UGC 7-point scale
- Degree in law and passed the Company Secretary examination conducted by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), or
- Degree in law and passed the final examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), or
- A judge of any State High Court in India with three years of experience
AILET 2026 Age Limit – BALLB, LLM, PhD
The National Law University, Delhi in its latest notification regarding the AILET 2026 age limit, announced that there is no maximum or minimum age limit for the candidates who are aspiring to appear in the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET). All the candidates are just required to complete the basic eligibility requirements prescribed to appear in the exam.
