The Central Board of Secondary Education has made several changes in the exam pattern for the final examinations of Class 11th and 12th. All the changes made by CBSE board in the exam pattern are focused on the changes suggested in the National Education Policy 2020.
The board has announced that the total number of Competency focused questions such as MCQs and case-based questions has been increased from 40% in academic year 2023-24 to 50% in academic year 2024-25.
In accordance with the National Education Policy 2020, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken multiple steps to implement Competency Based Education in schools, ranging from aligning assessment to competencies, development of example resources for teachers and students, said Joseph Emanuel, Director (Academics) at CBSE.
He further said that the board is working to emphasize creativity, critical thinking, and system-based learning as a process of the shift towards Competency Based Education. He said, our focus is to prepare students well for the upcoming challenges of the 21st century by moving away from rote memorization.
