The National Medical Commission (NMC) has recently shared important updates about medical college seats in India. According to the latest data, there are 118,190 MBBS seats available in 780 medical colleges across the country. Karnataka has the highest number of MBBS seats, while Uttar Pradesh has the most medical colleges. The NMC has also released provisional seat details for UG and PG medical courses, including broad and super-specialty programs, for the academic year 2024-25. This updated data is available on the NMC website and is valid up to March 31, 2025. Medical colleges are asked to check their seat numbers and report any errors within 15 days to ensure accurate records.
How Many Private and Government NEET Seats are there in India?
India has a wide gap in the number of MBBS seats and medical colleges across different states, as per the National Medical Commission (NMC). Karnataka tops the list with 12,545 MBBS seats, followed by Uttar Pradesh with 12,475. Tamil Nadu has 12,050, Maharashtra 11,846, and Telangana 9,040.
