The NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is a major exam in India for students who want to study courses like MBBS, BDS, or AYUSH. To enter medical education through NEET 2025, students must meet specific eligibility rules set by the National Testing Agency (NTA). To apply for the NEET 2025 exam, students must meet specific requirements, including a minimum age limit.
NEET Age Limit 2025
The NEET age criteria are important to ensure that candidates fall within the specified age range for the exam and medical admissions.
- The minimum age requirement for all candidates is 17 years as of December 31 of the year of admission. Therefore, to meet this age limit, candidates must be born on or before December 31.
- There is no upper age limit for those wishing to take the NEET exam.
Eligibility Criteria for NEET UG
NEET Eligibility Criteria need to be fulfilled by every candidate before completing the registration form to appear for the NEET 2025 exam.
- To be eligible for NEET 2025, students must have completed their 12th grade with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as main subjects.
- General category students must have at least 50% marks in their 12th-grade exams in the required subjects, while reserved category students need a minimum of 40%.
NEET Age Limit – Category Wise
There were lots of restrictions on the NEET 2025 UG Age Limit, subjects, and types of school but as per the received NEET Eligibility Criteria 2025, the National Testing Agency has now removed all those restrictions. The upper age limit in NEET 2025 eligibility criteria has been removed. So now any candidates above the age of 17 years can apply for the NEET examination.

NEET Age Restrictions
For NEET 2025, the age limit rules have been changed. There is no longer an upper age limit for candidates taking the NEET exam. Previously, students from the general category had a limit of 25 years, while those from reserved categories like SC, ST, and OBC had a limit of 30 years. However, starting from 2025, anyone who is 17 or older can apply for NEET, regardless of how old they are. This change was officially announced by the National Medical Commission (NMC) on March 9, 2022, removing age as a restriction for NEET eligibility.
