Normalization Method for Preparing TNEA 2023 Rank List
Normalization is a method followed by DoTE to equalize the marks scored by candidates in qualifying examinations from various boards. The marks secured by candidates belonging to various boards in Tamil Nadu are equated to the state Board of Tamil Nadu. For easier understanding, we have provided the example below which describes the normalization process.
For Example– If a student from the state board of Tamil Nadu scores 100 marks in chemistry, and the highest marks secured by the candidate from any other board is 90 then both the highest marks are equated to 100. If a student from any other board scores 60 marks, with the first mark being 90, then 60 marks are considered to be equal to 66.66 marks as calculated here, (100 x 60)/90 = 66.66 %. After the normalization of marks, the names of qualified students are included in the rank list.
