SBI Clerk Recruitment Notification 2026 Out for 1538 SC/ST/OBC Backlog Vacancies

The State Bank of India (SBI) has released the official notification for the Special Recruitment Drive for SC/ST/OBC Backlog Vacancies for the post of Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales), commonly known as SBI Clerk. A total of 1538 vacancies have been announced under Advertisement No. CRPD/CR/SPLDRIVE/2026-27/16. Online registration begins on 7th August 2026 and closes on 27th August 2026.

State Bank of India’s Central Recruitment & Promotion Department (CRPD) has invited applications from eligible Indian citizens for the post of Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales) in the clerical cadre. This is a special recruitment drive exclusively for SC, ST, and OBC backlog vacancies. For fresh vacancies, the notification will be released soon.

SBI Clerk Recruitment Notification 2026 Out

Candidates can apply for vacancies in one state/UT only, and there is no provision for inter-circle or inter-state transfer, except for intra-state transfers between Delhi Circle & Lucknow Circle (Uttar Pradesh) and Mumbai Metro Circle & Maharashtra Circle (Maharashtra), subject to the bank’s guidelines.

SBI Clerk Backlog Vacancies Apply Online 2026

The official notification has initiated the online application process for SBI Clerk Recruitment 2026. Candidates belonging to the OBC/ST/SC categories can apply online for backlog vacancies using the direct link shared below. The link shall remain active from 7th to 27th August 2026.

The application fee to be paid as per category: 

  • OBC: Rs. 750
  • SC/ST: No fee

Ans- No, the candidate can apply online only for 1 state

What is SBI Clerk Eligibility for Backlog Vacancies?

Educational Qualification (as on 31.12.2026): Graduation in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification recognised by the central government. Candidates in their final year/semester may also apply provisionally, subject to producing proof of graduation by 31.12.2026.

Important:

  • Candidates currently working in SBI’s clerical cadre are not eligible.
  • Candidates who previously resigned from SBI while in the clerical cadre are not eligible.
  • Candidates with adverse reports regarding character, antecedents, or moral turpitude are not eligible.

Age Limit (as on 01.04.2026): Minimum 20 years, maximum 28 years — i.e., candidates must be born not earlier than 02.04.1998 and not later than 01.04.2006 (both dates inclusive).

SBI Clerk Special Drive Recruitment Selection Process

The selection process consists of three phases:

  1. Preliminary Examination (Online, Objective)
  2. Main Examination (Online, Objective)
  3. Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT) — applicable only to candidates who have not studied the specified local language at 10th/12th level

Important: Only the main exam marks are used for the final merit list; prelims marks are used solely for shortlisting candidates for the main exam (approximately 10 times the vacancies per category).

Salary and Pay Scale

Pay Scale: Rs. 24050-1340/3-28070-1650/3-33020-2000/4-41020-2340/7-57400-4400/1-61800-2680/1-64480

Starting Basic Pay: Rs. 26,730/- (Rs. 24,050/- basic plus two advance increments admissible to graduates)

Total Starting Emoluments: Approximately Rs. 46,000/- per month at a metro location like Mumbai.

Probation Period: Minimum 6 months, extendable based on performance and completion of prescribed e-lessons.
