IBPS has released the updated IBPS Clerk syllabus and exam pattern along with its official notification. This year, 11403 vacancies have been released by IBPS for clerical cadre posts to be filled in 11 participating banks. IBPS Clerk Exam Pattern and Syllabus 2026

As per the latest IBPS Clerk Notification 2026, the Mains exam pattern has been revised. There are 2 changes in the main examination. The total number of questions in quantitative aptitude has been increased from 35 to 40, so the total number of questions will now be 160 instead of 155, and the overall exam duration has been increased from 120 minutes to 125 minutes. The complete exam structure is discussed below.

IBPS Clerk Selection Process 2026

The selection of IBPS Clerk will be done through 2 online examinations (preliminary and main) and followed by a Language Proficiency Test. The prelims exam is qualifying, and the final selection will be done based on the marks scored in the mains exam.

  1. Preliminary Exam: 100 Questions for 100 Marks
  2. Mains Exam: 160 Questions for 200 Marks

IBPS Clerk Exam Pattern 2026 

The preliminary exam for IBPS Clerk CRP XVI is an online exam that tests a candidate's aptitude, intellect, and English. Both the Preliminary Exam and Mains Exam will be conducted bilingually, i.e. both in English and in Hindi.

The IBPS Clerk preliminary examination is conducted online and candidates are allocated total duration of 1 hour (20 minutes for each section) to complete the preliminary exam.

  • IBPS Clerk Mains Exam will now consist of 160 questions for 200 marks that need to be completed in a time frame of 125 minutes.
  • Negative marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer.
