Is UGC NET June Exam Date 2026 Out?
Yes, along with the official notification, it is mentioned that the UGC National Eligibility Test (June Session) will be held from 22nd to 30th June 2026. The exam will be conducted in a computer-based mode for a total of 87 subjects. Furthermore, the subject-wise schedule will be released shortly.

What is UGC NET June 2026 Eligibility?
Candidates holding a master’s degree with at least 55% marks (50% for reserved categories) in subjects like Humanities, Social Science, or Electronics. The age should be 30 years for JRF (relaxed to 35 for reserved/women), with no age limit for Assistant Professor. Furthermore, detailed eligibility is as follows-
Educational Qualification
- Candidates must be post-graduates of UGC-recognised universities or institutions with a master’s degree or its equivalent with a 55% mark.
- Those who have finished a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree program must have an aggregate score of at least 75% or its equivalent.
- PhD degree holders get a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks. Eligible candidates must complete their Master’s degree examination by September 19th, 1991.
- Applicants who are currently in their final semester of a post-graduate degree are also capable of applying.
- Candidates must have scored 55% marks and 50% marks for reserved category students.
Age Limit
- The candidates who are applying for the NTA NET Junior Research Fellowships should not be more than 30 years old.
- There is no age limit specified by NTA for candidates applying for Assistant Professorships and admission to PhD.
- Candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC, ST, OBC-NCL, and PwD get 5 years of age relaxation in the upper age limit for JRF.

What is the Application Fee?
The application fee for General/Unreserved is Rs. 1150/-, for General-EWS/OBC-NCL is Rs. 600/-, while for ST/SC/PwD & Third Gender, the fee is just Rs. 325/-. The application fee has to be paid online using Debit/Credit/Netbanking/E-Wallet.
UGC NET Exam Pattern 2026
The online exam consists of 2 papers with 50 and 100 questions, respectively. The total duration of the exam is 3 hours, with 2 hours for Paper 1 and 1 hour for Paper 2.

What are UGC NET Minimum Qualifying Marks?
Qualifying marks are the minimum eligibility marks only. Scoring qualifying marks does not guarantee selection. Candidates must still clear the subject-wise cut-off marks. The category-wise UGC NET Minimum Qualifying Marks are as follows:

What is UGC NET Certificate Validity 2026?
- For Assistant Professor – NET Certificate is valid for a lifetime, allowing candidates to apply for teaching roles at any stage.
- For JRF – The JRF award letter is valid for 3 years from the date of issue. Within this duration, candidates must enrol in a PhD program to avail themselves of fellowship benefits.
What are Qualifying UGC-NET 2026?
- Candidates can pursue Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) or Senior Research Fellowships (SRF) at research institutions or universities
- Those who have passed the exam can apply for PhD programs in their relevant field of study
- Candidates can apply to any college for the position of Assistant Professor in universities and colleges across India

Difference between UGC NET and the Joint CSIR UGC NET Exam
UGC NET exam is conducted for all Language and Humanities subjects (a total of 87 subjects), while the CSIR NET exam is conducted for all Science subjects.
Candidate has a Master’s degree in Arts or a language like English, Political Science, Hindi, Sanskrit, etc. can apply for the UGC NET JRF or Lecturership exam. Candidate has a Master’s degree in any science subject like Life Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences and Earth Sciences, then he/she can apply for the CSIR NET exam.
