Q. Can I apply for both Office Assistant and Officer Scale posts?
Ans: Yes, candidates can apply for both the Office Assistant (Multipurpose) and one of the Officer Scale posts, provided they meet the eligibility criteria for each and pay the application fee for each post separately.
IBPS RRB 2026 Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the IBPS RRB PO and Clerk and other posts, a candidate is required to fulfill the given eligibility criteria, including educational qualification, age limit, experience, etc., which are discussed below:
Age Limit (as on 01.09.2026)
- For Office Assistant (Group B) - Between 18 years and 28 years, i.e., candidates should not have been born earlier than 02.09.1998 and later than 01.09.2008 (both dates inclusive).
- For Officer Scale-I (Assistant Manager Group A) - Above 18 years - Below 30 years, i.e., candidates should not have been born earlier than 02.09.1996 and later than 01.09.2008 (both dates inclusive).
- For Officer Scale-II (Manager Group A) - Above 21 years - Below 32 years, i.e., candidates should not have been born earlier than 02.09.1994 and later than 01.09.2005 (both dates inclusive).
- For Officer Scale-III (Senior Manager Group A) - Above 21 years and below 40 years, i.e., candidates should not have been born earlier than 02.09.1986 and later than 01.09.2005 (both dates inclusive).
Category-wise Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PWD – 10 years

IBPS RRB 2026 Exam Pattern (for All Posts)
IBPS has also released the exam pattern and syllabus for IBPS RRB officer scale 1, 2, 3, and office assistant posts. The exam pattern for selection for the post of Office Assistant is quite different from that of the exam pattern for selection for the post of officer grade.
For IBPS RRB Office Assistant, the exam will be conducted in two phases:

No interview process will be conducted for selecting candidates for the post of Office Assistant. Selection will be made purely on the marks obtained by the candidate in his/her mains examination.
For IBPS RRB PO, the exam will be conducted in three phases:
