Graduate Aptitude Engineering Test 2025- Highlights

This national-level examination will be conducted as a computer-based test in 8 zones across India, and candidates are allowed to select a maximum of three cities (it should be from the same zone). This aptitude test will contain one general aptitude section and another section on the subject selected by candidates.

What is GATE Exam?

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is an all-India exam that offers candidates with many opportunities to grow in their chosen fields. The main focus of this exam is to evaluate the candidate’s knowledge in various undergraduate subjects such as Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, and Humanities. This examination will include 30 subjects and candidates can select up to 2 subjects depending upon their interests. On behalf of the Ministry of Human Resources Development, National Coordinating Board, Department of Education, and Government of India, this exam is conducted by IISC Bengaluru along with seven IITs.

The official authorities have published the GATE 2025 exam schedule, the exam will be held from 1st to 16th February 2025. The medium of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering will be English, candidates interested in this highly competitive examination must note that GATE Application Form 2025 will be released in the last week of August 2024.

Steps to fill GATE 2025 Registration Form

For the convenience of candidates, we have provided a detailed step-by-step procedure to fill out the registration form for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering.

1. Open any web browser and enter URL of the GATE 2025 website i.e. https://gate2025.iitr.ac.in/.

2. The homepage of the website is displayed, from this page click on the “Applications” section.

4. After clicking on it, a drop-down menu will appear, click on the “Apply Online” section from the menu.

5. Now, start filling out the registration form by entering all the necessary information such as name, category, date of birth, mother’s and father’s name, and contact details including mobile number and e-mail.

6. Move further and upload all the necessary documents including a photograph of 3.5 cm width and 4.5 cm height. Alo, upload the signature in JPEG/JPG format and proceed further.

7. On the next page, the online payment gate will appear, pay the required application fees and then submit the online form after reviewing it thoroughly.

Application Fees for GATE Exam 2025

While filling out the GATE 2025 Registration Form, candidates will be asked to pay an application fee. The amount to be paid as an application fee for women, ST/SC, and PwBD candidates is Rs. 900 and a late fee is Rs. 1400/-.

Eligibility Criteria for GATE 2025 Exam

IIT Roorkee has specified some of the basic eligibility criteria that a candidate must know before applying for GATE 2025. Only eligible candidates who are Indian citizens will be allowed to sit in this examination.

Educational Qualification

Here, below we have provided the minimum basic qualifications that candidates must have to apply for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering.

  • Candidates must have a bachelor’s /master’s degree in their respective subjects.
  • Those who have completed any government-approved degree program in engineering/technology/architecture/science/commerce/arts/humanities, or if they are presently in their third or higher year of an undergraduate program are also eligible for GATE 2025.
  • Candidates who are pursuing or have completed their qualifying degree from any other country than India are also eligible to appear for this examination but they must have either completed or are in the third year of their Bachelor’s Degree in engineering/technology/architecture/science/commerce/arts/humanities.

Age Limit

For GATE Exam 2025, IIT, Roorkee has not specified any minimum or maximum age limit. It means candidates belonging to any age group can fill out the GATE 2025 Registration Form, they simply just need to fulfill other eligibility parameters specified by authorities.

GATE 2025 Exam Pattern

The Graduate Aptitude Engineering Test will be conducted for 180 minutes or 3 hours at respective examination centers. The selected subject section will include questions based on MCQs, Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and/or Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions. For all 30 papers General Aptitude Test will be for 15 marks. There is no negative marking in MSQ/NAT questions but marks will be deducted for wrong answers in MCQ questions. 1/3 marks will be deducted for 1 mark MCQ and 2/3 marks will be deducted for 2 mark MCQs.
