What is the CTET Exam 2026?

CTET or Central Teacher Eligibility Test is a national-level examination conducted by CBSE to determine the eligibility of candidates for teaching positions in central government schools across India, including Kendriya Vidyalayas and Navodaya Vidyalayas. The exam will be held in offline mode, meaning it is a pen-and-paper test. CTET Exam has two papers:

Important Dates for CTET February 2026

CBSE has previously announced the CTET February Exam 2026 Date for 8th February 2026, and now the registration dates have been released along with the notification on 27th November 2025. The application process for the CTET February 2026 has been started on 27th November 2025, and the last date to apply is

• Registration Starts- 27th November 2025
• Last Date to apply- 18th December 2025 (11:59 pm)
• Last Date to pay the application fee- 18th December 2025
• Exam Date- 8th February 2026 (Sunday)

CTET Exam 2026 Eligibility

CTET Exam consists of two papers: Paper 1 (Class 1 to 5) and Paper 2 (6 to 8). The eligibility criteria for both papers are discussed below.

CTET Paper I: For those looking forward to teaching classes I-V. Applicants should have a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or a similar qualification, either completed or in the final year.

CTET Paper II: For classes VI-VIII. Graduation with relevant degrees like B.Ed., B.A.Ed, or similar, is required for eligibility.

Both papers can be attempted by eligible candidates who fulfil the requirements for each level.

CTET 2026 Application Fee

Only the applications submitted with the application fee will be accepted, and the fee for single and double papers is different. If the candidate has to apply for the CTET February 2026 Paper 1 or Paper 2, then they have to pay Rs. 1000/- [General/OBC(NCL)] and Rs. 500/- [SC/ST/Diff. Abled Person.
