To ace the CTET exam, candidates must familiarize themselves with the CTET Exam Pattern to understand question formats, total marks, and marking schemes. This will help you to prepare judiciously for the CTET Exam Structure. The CTET Exam will be a multiple-choice questions type of paper. To assist candidates in their preparation, here we have covered the CTET Exam Pattern 2026 for Paper 1 and Paper 2.
CTET Exam Pattern 2026
The CTET Exam included 2 papers. Paper 1 for the candidates who aspire to become teachers for Classes I to V, and Paper II for candidates who aspire to become teachers for Class VI to VIII. Both Paper I & II of CTET contain a total of 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) each. 1 mark is awarded to correct answers and there is no negative marking for incorrect answers. The paper is conducted in offline mode as a pen-and-paper-based test. ​Paper 1 consists of 5 sections, while Paper 2 consists of 4 sections.
Paper-I will be conducted for candidates who wish to be teachers for Classes I to IV.
Paper-II will be conducted for candidates who wish to be teachers for Classes VI to VIII.

CTET Exam Pattern 2026- Paper II
The CTET Paper-I exam is divided into 4 sections. Candidates have to choose between Mathematics & Science and Social Studies in Paper 2. The total number of questions and marks distributions for Paper 2 is given below:

Important Points:
- There is no penalty for wrong answers in the CTET 2026 Exam.
- The exam will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode.
