CTET Exam Pattern 2026, Detailed Paper-I & II Exam Pattern

To ace the CTET exam, candidates must familiarize themselves with the CTET Exam Pattern 2026 to understand question formats, total marks, and marking schemes. This will help you to prepare judiciously for the CTET Exam. Let’s understand the CTE Exam Pattern & Syllabus 2026 one by one. CTET Exam will be a Multiple Choice Questions type of paper. To assist candidaes in their preparation, here we have covered the CTET Exam Pattern 2026 for Paper 1 and Paper 2. 

CTET Exam Pattern 2026

The CTET Exam included 2 papers. Paper 1 for the candidates who aspire to become teachers for Classes I to V, and Paper II for candidates who aspire to become teachers for Class VI to VIII. Both Paper I & II of CTET contain a total of 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) each. 1 mark is awarded to correct answers and there is no negative marking for incorrect answers. The paper is conducted in offline mode as a pen-and-paper-based test. ​Paper 1 consists of 5 sections while Paper 2 consists of 4 sections.  

Paper-I will be conducted for candidates who wish to be teachers for Classes I to IV.

Paper-II will be conducted for candidates who wish to be teachers for Classes VI to VIII.

CTET Exam Pattern 2026- Paper II

CTET Paper-I exam is divided into 4 sections. Candidates have to choose between Mathematics & Science and Social Studies in Paper 2. Total number of questions and marks distributions for Paper 2 is given below:

There is no penalty for wrong answers in CTET 2026 Exam.
