The online form-filling process for the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination, 2026 has started on September 7, 2026, on the official website at www.ssc.gov.in. How to Apply Online for SSC CHSL 2026?

SSC has made Aadhaar-enabled One-Time Registration (OTR) mandatory for all candidates. If you've already registered for any SSC exam after the OTR system was introduced, you do not need to register again — simply log in with your existing Registration ID and Password and skip to Step 2.

Step 1: Complete SSC OTR (One-Time Registration)

One-Time Registration (OTR) is the first step in the SSC online application process. Candidates need to complete OTR on the new SSC website before applying for CHSL 2026.

1. Visit the official SSC website, www.ssc.gov.in, and go to the Candidate Portal.
2. Click on 'Register Now' under the Login section if you're a first-time applicant.
3. Enter your basic details: name, father's name, mother's name, date of birth, mobile number, email ID, and class 10 roll number.
4. Complete Aadhaar-based verification via OTP sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number. If you don't have Aadhaar, alternative photo ID proof is accepted.
5. Fill in category, nationality, visible identification mark, benchmark disability status (if any), and permanent/present address.
6. Upload your photograph and signature as per SSC's specified format and size.
7. Create a password, accept the declaration, and click Final Submit.
8. Verify via OTP sent to mobile/email to complete registration. You'll receive your SSC Registration Number — save this carefully.

Step 2: Fill SSC CHSL Application Form

Once OTR is complete (or if you're already registered), log in to your dashboard to apply specifically for CHSL:

1. Log in to the SSC Candidate Portal using your Registration ID and Password.
2. From the dashboard, locate the SSC CHSL 2026 notification and click 'Apply'.
3. Select your preferred exam centres (usually up to 3 choices allowed).
4. Choose post preferences among LDC/JSA, DEO, DEO Grade 'A', Postal Assistant, and Sorting Assistant, based on your eligibility.
5. Review your OTR profile details — educational qualification and category information carry forward automatically.
6. Pay the application fee (if applicable to your category) via the available online payment modes.
7. Review the complete form carefully, then submit.
8. Download and save the acknowledgement/confirmation page for your records.

Documents Required to Apply for SSC CHSL 2026

Keep these ready before you start your application to avoid last-minute rejection or upload errors:

• Recent passport-size photograph (JPG format, as per SSC's specified size in KB)
• Scanned signature (JPG format, as per SSC's specified size in KB)
• Valid, active email ID and mobile number for OTP verification

• Class 10 certificate (for roll number and date of birth verification during OTR)

The candidates can proceed to submit the application fee only via online mode. A candidate must pay Rs. 100 as the SSC CHSL Online Application Fee. The fee can be paid online through BHIM UPI, Net Banking, Visa, MasterCard, Maestro or RuPay Debit Card. The last date for fee payment is October 8, 2026, up to 11:00 PM.

One important update candidates should not miss is the live photograph requirement.

Photograph Requirements

Candidates should follow these instructions while capturing their live photograph:

• The photograph should be captured through the application module.
• A previously taken passport-size photograph should not be photographed and uploaded.
• Choose a place with good lighting and a plain background.
• Keep the camera at eye level.
• Sit or stand directly in front of the camera and look straight ahead.
• The entire face should be inside the red rectangular area shown by the application module.
• The face should not be too close or too far from the camera.
• Do not wear a cap, mask or spectacles/glasses while capturing the photograph.
• The photograph should be clear and show the candidate's full frontal view.
• If the captured photograph does not meet the prescribed requirements, candidates should recapture it before proceeding.

Live Photograph

The SSC application module is designed to capture the candidate's photograph while filling out the form. Candidates should:

• Sit or stand in front of the camera
• Use a plain background
• Ensure proper lighting
• Keep the camera at eye level
• Look directly at the camera
• Keep the entire face inside the camera frame
• Not wear a cap
• Not wear spectacles or sunglasses
• Ensure the photograph is clear and frontal

Candidates who cannot capture the photograph through a camera can use the QR-code-based mobile application mentioned in the SSC application module.

Signature

Candidates must upload a scanned signature in JPEG format.

• File size: 10–20 KB
• Approximate dimensions: 4.0 cm × 2.0 cm
• The signature should be clear and legible
• Blurred or illegible signatures may lead to rejection of the application.

SSC CHSL Application Correction 2026

SSC will provide a three-day application correction window from October 14 to October 16, 2026, up to 11:00 PM.

Candidates can correct and resubmit their application a maximum of two times during this window.
