RRB Section Controller Selection Process 2026

The selection process has three stages. Candidates must clear each stage to advance to the next.:

CBT (Computer Based Test) → CBAT (Computer Based Aptitude Test) → Document Verification

  • CBAT: This is the first stage of the exam and consists of an objective-type computer-based test
  • CBAT: Computer-Based Aptitude Test
  • Document Verification: After clearing the CBAT examination, candidates have to present their original documents based on their qualifications.

Only candidates who qualify in CBAT are considered for the final merit list. The merit list is prepared with 70% weightage from CBT and 30% weightage from CBAT. Failing even one CBAT battery leads to disqualification.

The Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) is the 2nd stage of the selection process. Many candidates with high CBT scores fail to clear CBAT because they start preparing too late. Since CBAT carries 30% weightage in the final merit list, it can significantly affect your rank.

Important: CBAT is a qualifying-cum-merit test. You must pass every individual test battery (minimum T-score 42). There is no relaxation based on category. Failing even one battery = disqualification from the Section Controller post.
