New Changes in SBI PO 2026 Exam, Check New CTC, Policies & More

The State Bank of India issued the SBI PO 2026 notification (CRPD/PO/2026-27/09) on 18th June 2026 with many changes and updates that every banking aspirant must know about. In recent times. Earlier, SBI used to release fewer vacancies, but this time it has announced 1500 Probationary Officer vacancies. This time, SBI has revised the CTC and has also introduced some new policies in its notification.

What’s New in SBI PO 2026?

Have a look at all the changes announced by SBI this year, as mentioned in the new notification PDF for SBI PO 2026 released at www.sbi.bank.in.

1. CTC Increased

The annual CTC for a newly appointed PO at the initial scale in Mumbai has been revised to Rs. 21.97 lakh, which was Rs. 20.43 lakh last year. In-hand monthly pay continues to fall in the range of Rs. 80,000–Rs. 82,000 (depending on place of posting and applicable allowances).

2. New Official Recruitment Website:

SBI has shifted its primary recruitment portal to www.sbi.bank.in for this cycle. Earlier, the recruitment website was www.sbi.co.in. The notification PDF and application link are available at the new portal. Further, the career page of www.sbi.bank.in will also host admit cards, results, and scorecards.

3. More Attempts Allowed

Each category now has 2 more attempts/chances to appear in the exam. Now, General and EWS candidates have 6 attempts, while OBC candidates now have 9 attempts.

4. Aadhar Verification Mandatory

Aadhaar based verification has been made mandatory for all first time applicants. The main purpose is to make the identity checks at a later stage easier, for example, document verification.

5. Descriptive Paper Marks Revised

In the Mains exam, the weight given to the Descriptive Test has been revised from 50 marks to 30 marks. The duration of the descriptive paper (30 minutes) and the number of questions (two: typically essay and letter/email-type writing) remain unchanged.

6. PwBD Eligibility Change

Previously, PwBD candidates with disabilities under “likely to improve” (temporary disability category) were not eligible for reservation. Now only three categories are eligible for PwBD reservation:

  • Progressive disabilities (worsening over time)
  • Non-progressive disabilities (stable, unchanged)
  • Not likely to improve (permanent)

7. DPDP Act Compliance

SBI has now made it necessary for all the candidates to adhere to the DPDP (Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023) during the recruitment process.

8. Anti-Coaching Clause Added

Candidates must state they are NOT enrolled in any coaching institute for SBI PO preparation. This is a mandatory eligibility condition for the first time.

9. New Exam Centres Added

In the new notification, a few exam centres have been added, and a few have been removed. The centres a 5 state has been added, which are as follows –

  • Manipur: Churachandpur
  • Uttar Pradesh: Ayodhya
  • Haryana: Kurukshetra
  • Kerala: Thrissur
  • Gujarat: Bardoli

10. CIBIL Relaxation

Previously, CIBIL status must be updated by the date of offer of appointment; however, now the CIBIL compliance deadline has been extended to the date of joining.
