Who are Eligible to Apply for RRB Technician Posts?

B) Diploma in Engineering for three years in the above basic streams or any of the above basic streams in combination (OR)
Degree in Engineering in the above basic streams or in any combination of any of the above basic streams.
18 to 33 years
Technician Grade 3 Matriculation/SSLC + ITI in the trade of Forger and Heat Treater/Foundryman/Pattern Maker/Moulder (Refractory) from the recognised institutions of NCVT/SCVT. (OR) Matriculation/SSLC passed with a completed course in an Act Apprenticeship in the concerned trades. 18 to 30 years

How to Apply for RRB Technician Recruitment 2026?

The registration process for RRB Technician Grade 1 and 3 Recruitment 2026 will commence at https://www.rrbapply.gov.in/, and candidates have to submit their applications online.

  1. On the start day of the registration process, visit https://www.rrbapply.gov.in/.
  2. Create an Account, and register using your basic details (Name, Date of Birth, Email ID, Mobile Number, and Aadhaar Card).
  3. Verify your account by entering the OTPs sent to your registered mobile number and email.
  4. Use your generated registration credentials (or existing login if you recently applied for RRB ALP/NTPC) to log in to the portal.
  5. Choose CEN No. 02/2026 (Technician) and select your preferred RRB Zone.
  6. Carefully input your personal information, address, category, and educational or technical qualifications (e.g., ITI for Grade III, B.Sc or Diploma for Grade I Signal).
  7. Upload scanned copies of your passport-size photograph, signature, and any required category or educational certificates in the prescribed format.
  8. Complete the fee payment using online modes such as Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.
  9. Review all entered details carefully before final submission, and download or print the confirmation page for future reference.

Application Fee

  • For Candidates belonging to SC / ST / Ex-Serviceman / PWDs / Female / Transgender / Minorities / Economically backward class: Rs. 250/- (This fee of Rs 250/- shall be refunded, duly deducting bank charges as applicable, on appearing in CBT.)
  • Others Categories: Rs. 500/- (Out of this fee of Rs 500/-, an amount of Rs 400/- shall be refunded duly deducting bank charges, on appearing in CBT)

What is RRB Technician Selection Process?

Stage 1- Computer-Based Test (CBT): 100 questions for 100 marks (Multiple Choice Questions) with ⅓rd negative marking

Stage 2- Document Verification (DV): CBT-qualified candidates have to present their documents to verify

Stage 3- Detailed Medical Examination (DME): A medical examination will be conducted to finally select the candidates

CBT Exam Pattern

The exam pattern for Grade 1 and Grade 3 posts are slightly different in terms of subjects, however, number of questions, total marks, duration, and marking scheme remains same.

For RRB Technician Grade 3 CBT Exam

  • Total Questions: 100
  • Marks: 100
  • Duration: 90 minutes
  • Subjects: Mathematics (25 questions), General Intelligence & Reasoning (25 questions), General Science (40 questions), and General Awareness (10 questions)
  • Negative Marking: -1/3rd

For RRB Technician Grade 1 CBT Exam

  • Total Questions: 100
  • Marks: 100
  • Duration: 90 minutes
  • Subjects: Mathematics (10 questions), General Intelligence & Reasoning (15 questions), Basic of Computers and Applications (20 questions), Mathematics (20 questions), and Basic Science and Engineering (35 questions)
  • Negative Marking: -1/3rd
