UP TGT PGT Exam Pattern 2026

UPSESSB conducts an offline examination for the appointment of UP TGT PGT teachers. The examination pattern for the UP TGT PGT recruitment 2026 is as follows:

Key Changes in UP TGT PGT Exam Pattern 2026

The revised examination pattern introduces several important changes that candidates should understand before beginning their preparation:

• General Studies has been added - The revised written examination includes 30 General Studies questions.
• Subject questions reduced - The number of questions from the concerned subject has been reduced from 125 to 90.
• Total questions are 120 - Candidates will now answer 120 objective-type questions in the written examination.
• Total Marks are 360 - The revised written paper will carry a total of 360 marks.
• Negative marking introduced - 1 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
• PGT interview remains: Candidates appearing for the PGT examination is 40 mark interview after qualifying in the written examination.
• Broader syllabus - Along with subject knowledge, candidates must now prepare General Studies topics, including Current Affairs, Teaching & Research Aptitude, ICT, Environment, Indian History & Geography, Indian Constitution and Economy.
