The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) is going to conduct the Combined Civil Services Examination – II under the Advt. No. 07/2026 (Advt No. 740) for which the online application process has started from 11th August 2026. Before applying for the TNPSC Group 2 Exam 2026, candidates must make sure they fulfill the required eligibility criteria in terms of nationality, educational qualification, and age limit. This article covers the complete TNPSC Group 2 Eligibility Criteria 2026, including age limit, educational qualification, nationality, physical and medical standards, and other essential conditions.
TNPSC Group 2 Eligibility Criteria 2026
If a candidate fails to match the eligibility criteria, the candidature of the candidate can be cancelled at any level of examination. The eligibility criteria for SSC CGL 2026 are based on certain parameters, which are as follows:
- Nationality
- Educational Qualification
- Age Limit
- Physical and Medical Standards
TNPSC Group 2 Nationality
TNPSC Group 2 exam includes several posts. The primary criterion of the application process for any of the posts is the nationality of the candidates. The applicant must be a permanent citizen of India. Here are the other guidelines for the candidates who are residents of India from foreign countries:
- A citizen of India
- A subject of Nepal or Bhutan
- A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January 1962, to permanently settle in India
- A person who has an Indian Origin and has migrated from countries like Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia to permanently settle in India.
Note: The applicant belonging to categories 3 or 4, or 2, should also obtain a certificate of eligibility given by the Government of Tamil Nadu. The candidates from the state of Tamil Nadu will be given more preference than the rest of the Indian candidates.

Note: Candidates must possess adequate knowledge of Tamil of tamil language either by having studied Tamil as a subject/medium up to SSLC/HSC/Degree, or by passing TNPSC's Second Class Language Test (Full Test) in Tamil.

The cut-off date to calculate the age limit is 11th July 2026. The age limit varry category wise, and the same has been discussed below.

Medical/Vision Requirements for Jailor Posts
Vision for Jailor posts must be certified by the Superintendent of the Government Ophthalmic Hospital, Chennai. The required Standard I vision is 6/6 distance vision and 0.5 near vision in both eyes.
