PSTET 2026 - Highlights

PSTET Exam consists of 2 papers. Paper I is for candidates who intend to be a teacher for classes I to V (Primary Teacher), and Paper 2 will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII (TGT- Trained Graduate Teacher). PSTET 2026 Exam Date Out

Punjab State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has released the PSTET Exam Date 2026 through the official notice released at https://pstet2025.org/. As per the official notice, the PSTET Exam is scheduled for 15th March 2026 (Sunday). The exam will be conducted in offline mode at various exam centres throughout the state. Further details regarding the exam, including exam date, timing, exam venue, etc., will be released along with the admit card. 

PSTET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

PSTET 2026 Eligibility Criteria have been specified by the exam authority. Only the candidates who qualify for all the aspects mentioned as per the PSTET Eligibility Criteria must fill out the application form for appearing in the exam. In case of any discrepancies or mismatches of information, the candidatures would be cancelled. So, the candidates are recommended to ensure that they are eligible for the Punjab TET in all aspects before filling out the application form.

Educational Qualification for Paper 1

Candidates who are willing to take up the post of primary teacher must have the given educational qualifications. If any of the given criteria do not match, the candidature might be cancelled.

PSTET Educational Qualifications for Paper 1
  1. Secondary (or it's equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education, in accordance with the NCTE.
  2. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  3. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education)*.
  4. Candidates who possess “Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)” are now eligible for becoming Teachers for Classes I-V: Primary Stage. Such Candidates have mandatory to undergo a six-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE, within two years of such appointment as a primary teacher

Educational Qualification for Paper 2

The given educational qualifications must be possessed by the candidates who are willing to teach the upper primary section of students. The candidates who have these qualifications are only eligible to apply.

PSTET Educational Qualifications for Paper 2
  1. Graduation and passing or appearing in the final year of 2- a year Diploma in Elementary Education.
  2. Graduation with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
  3. Graduation with at least 45% marks and passing or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), per the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure).
  4. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  5. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
  6. Graduation with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).
  7. Any candidate having a qualified B.Ed Programme recognized by the NCTE is eligible to appear in the TET exam.

Ans- The Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test (PSTET) is held once in a year by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB)

Q. Can a candidate from other state apply for PSTET 2026?
Ans- Yes, Candidates appearing from states (other than Punjab Domicile) will be considered only in the General Category.

The PSTET 2026 Paper 2 will be attempted by the candidates seeking the job of a teacher in the Upper Primary Section.
