What is PSTET Exam?

PSTET stands for Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test, which is conducted annually to determine the eligibility of teaching aspirants for primary (Classes 1-5) and upper primary (Classes 6-8) teaching positions in Punjab schools. The exam is conducted in offline mode across multiple exam centres in the Punjab state.

PSTET 2026 - Highlights

PSTET Exam consists of 2 papers. Paper I is for candidates who intend to be a teacher for classes I to V (Primary Teacher), and Paper 2 will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII (TGT- Trained Graduate Teacher). Interested candidates who hold the required eligibility for appointment as teachers for Classes I to V and VI to VIII can apply online for the PSTET Exam 2026 (once the application link is activated).

PSTET 2026 Exam Date Out

Punjab State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has released the PSTET Exam Date 2026 through the official notice released at https://pstet2025.org/. As per the official notice, the PSTET Exam is scheduled for 15th March 2026 (Sunday). The exam will be conducted in offline mode at various exam centres throughout the state. Further details regarding the exam, including exam date, timing, exam venue, etc., will be released along with the admit card. 

PSTET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

PSTET 2026 Eligibility Criteria have been specified by the exam authority. Only the candidates who qualify for all the aspects mentioned as per the PSTET Eligibility Criteria must fill out the application form for appearing in the exam. In case of any discrepancies or mismatches of information, the candidatures would be cancelled. So, the candidates are recommended to ensure that they are eligible for the Punjab TET in all aspects before filling out the application form.

Educational Qualification for Paper 1

Candidates who are willing to take up the post of primary teacher must have the given educational qualifications. If any of the given criteria do not match, the candidature might be cancelled.

Educational Qualification for Paper 2

The given educational qualifications must be possessed by the candidates who are willing to teach the upper primary section of students. The candidates who have these qualifications are only eligible to apply.

Ans- The Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test (PSTET) is held once in a year by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB)

Q. Can a candidate from other state apply for PSTET 2026?
Ans- Yes, Candidates appearing from states (other than Punjab Domicile) will be considered only in the General Category.

The PSTET 2026 Application form can be filled out by visiting the official website https://pstet.pseb.ac.in/. The candidates who are already registered may skip directly to filling out the application form. But the candidates who are applying for the first time will have to register first. 1. Visit the official website https://pstet.pseb.ac.in/.
2. Select “New Registration and Applicant Login” on the homepage.
3. Click on the registration link to register yourself. The candidate will be redirected to a new page
4. Candidates need to click on the ‘proceed’ option and enter the details asked.
5. After clicking on the ‘Register Me’ option, the candidate will be redirected to a new page that will have the login details.
6. Enter login credentials on the new page that will appear.
7. After login, the candidate needs to enter details such as the name, email ID, etc.
8. Upload your signature and photo after entering the necessary details.
9. Make the payment for the registration.
10. After all the processes have been carried out. Click on ‘Submit’.

PSTET 2026 Exam Pattern

The official PSTET 2026 Exam Pattern has been released on the official website. The PSTET Exam pattern is very important for aspiring candidates as it gives an idea about the structure of questions to be asked in the exam. The PSTET Exam Pattern is different for Papers 1 and 2. PSTET 2026 Exam Pattern for Paper 1

The PSTET 2026 Paper 1 consists of subjects such as Child Development & Pedagogy which is compulsory, Language 1, Language 2, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies. PSTET Paper 1 will contain 150 questions carrying 1 mark each. PSTET Paper 1 will be attempted by the candidates willing to apply for the role of teacher in the primary sections.

PSTET 2026 Exam Pattern for Paper 2

The PSTET 2026 Paper 2 will be attempted by the candidates seeking the job of a teacher in the Upper Primary Section. The PSTET Paper 2 will consist of subjects such as Child Development & Pedagogy, Language 1and, and Language 2, and option on subject papers for the teachers willing to teach a specific paper. Full marks for the PSTET Paper 2 will be 150 where each question carries 1 mark.
