CBSE has reopened the CTET 2026 online application window from 25th August 2026 to 1st September 2026, giving eligible candidates who missed the earlier window a fresh opportunity to apply. The revised exam date for the CTET 2026 September exam will be announced only after the application portal closes.
Candidates who were eligible for CTET 22nd Edition but could not submit their application during the original window (11 May – 10 June 2026) should apply now. Candidates who have already submitted their application successfully need not apply again.
CTET 2026 September Exam Postponed, Apply Online Form Re-opened
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially released a Public Notice on 25th August 2026 at its official website stating that the application window for the 22nd edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) has been reopened and the exam has been postponed till further notice. The decision follows the Supreme Court directive and aims to provide eligible candidates who were unable to apply earlier or missed the opportunity to submit their forms.
Why has the CTET Application Window been reopened?
The Hon’ble Supreme Court, in its judgement in the Review Petition (Civil) Diary No. 53434/2025 in Civil Appeal No. 1385/2025, highlighted the need to provide a reasonable opportunity to the eligible teachers to satisfy the statutory requirement of obtaining the prescribed Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) qualification.
“Taking into account the above judgement and in the larger interest of the candidates, CBSE has decided to give a fresh opportunity to all the eligible candidates who could not apply in the earlier window,” said the CBSE. Thus, the application portal has been reopened for a second round from 25th August to 1st September 2026.

CTET New Exam Date 2026
As per the official notice, CBSE has not announced a revised exam date yet. The notice explicitly states that the revised date of the 22nd edition of CTET examination will be announced only after the closure of the reopened application portal (i.e., after 1 September 2026).
