What is BSEB STET Exam?
STET stands for Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test, a mandatory state-level exam conducted by BSEB. Qualifying this exam does not directly give a job — it makes candidates eligible to apply for teacher recruitment vacancies announced later by the Bihar Education Department. Think of it like TET/CTET, but specific to Bihar and for higher classes.
- Paper 1: for candidates who want to teach Classes 9 and 10 (secondary level / TGT)
- Paper 2: for candidates who want to teach Classes 11 and 12 (senior secondary level / PGT)
Candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria for both levels can appear for both papers at the same time.
Bihar STET Eligibility (Educational Qualification)
- Paper 1: Graduation/Post-graduation with a minimum of 50% marks (45% with a 4-year integrated B.Ed./B.A.-B.Ed., etc., as per NCTE norms) from a recognised university, along with a B.Ed. degree recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
- Paper 2: Post-graduation in the concerned subject with a minimum of 50% marks along with B.Ed., as per Bihar State School Teacher (Appointment, Transfer & Service Conditions) Rules 2023 and related departmental notifications.
