As per the notification, law graduates who obtained their Law Degree within one year as of the date of notification are eligible to appear for the Civil Judge (Junior Division) recruitment for 2026. Age Limit 2026 (As on 01/09/2026)
The age limit is different for Direct Recruitment and Recruitment by Transfer.
Direct Recruitment
The candidate should not have completed 35 years of age as on 1 September 2026.
Relaxation in the upper age limit is provided as follows:
- SC/ST/BC/EWS: 5 years
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities: 10 years
- Defence Personnel: The period of Defence Service is excluded while computing age, subject to conditions

The Screening Test is conducted only for shortlisting candidates. Its marks will not be added to the written examination or final merit. Candidates who will be decalred qualify in the screening test will be called for written examination.

The Screening Test will be conducted as a Computer-Based Test (CBT). Candidates securing 40% or more in the Screening Test will be considered for shortlisting in the ratio of 1:10 of the available vacancies for the Written Examination.

The Civil Judge (Junior Division) post carries a pay scale of Rs. 77,840 – Rs. 1,36,520 Candidates selected and appointed as Civil Judges will also have to undergo the prescribed training and Law Clerkship before being appointed to the regular post as specified in the notification.
