The WB SET Notification 2026 for the WB SET Exam 1016 will be released soon by the West Bengal College Service Commission at their official website www.wbcsconline.in. WB SET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Before submitting the WB SET Application Form 2026, candidates should be aware of the WB SET Eligibility Criteria as set by the exam authority.

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have completed their  Master’s Degree OR equivalent Examination from Universities/Institutions recognized by UGC.
  • Candidates from the General/EWS category must have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in the Master’s Degree OR equivalent Examination.
  • Candidates from Other Backward Classes(OBC) belonging to the non-creamy layer/ Scheduled Caste(SC) /Scheduled Tribe(ST)/ persons with disability(PWD)/ Transgender category have to secure at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent Examination to be eligible for this Test.
  • The Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level Examination had been completed by 19th September 1991(irrespective of the date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e. from 55% to 50%) for appearing in SET.

Note: Students pursuing their Master's degree or equivalent, or those who have taken their final exams and are waiting for the results, are eligible to apply for this test. They will be considered eligible for the Assistant Professor position only after passing their Master's degree or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% for OBC/SC/ST/PWD/Transgender). These candidates must complete their degree within two years of the SET result with the required percentage of marks, or they will be disqualified.

Age Limit

There is no upper age limit for applying for the West Bengal State Eligibility Test (WB SET). Thus, there is no West Bengal SET age limit. Candidates with the minimum educational requirements can apply for this exam.

WB SET Exam 2026 Application Fee

Candidates interested in applying for the WBSET Exam 2026 have to ensure they pay the required application fee. The application fee will vary depending on the category of the candidate. The fees can be paid only through an online mode (either by credit card/ debit card/internet banking).

Candidates can apply online for WB SET 2026 through online mode from the official website West Bengal College Service Commission (WBCSC). The step-by-step process to fill out the online application form of WB SET Exam 2026 is given below:

  1. Visit the official website of the West Bengal College Service Commission (WBCSC) at www.wbcsconline.in
  2. On the homepage, click on “Apply for STATE ELIGIBILITY TEST”. You will be redirected to a new page with the online application portal.
  3. Candidates have to do the registration process and fill in all the details like Subject, Have you qualified earlier WB SET in the same subject, and Choice of examination center 1 & 2.
  4. Upload all the required documents, including your passport-size photograph, signature, certificates, etc.
  5. Recheck all the details of your application form before proceeding to the payment page.
  6. Pay the application fees as mentioned, category-wise. and click on the submit button.
  7. Save and download the WB SET Application Form for future reference.

WB SET Exam Pattern 2026

The WB SET Exam will consist of objective-type multiple-choice questions. The exam consists of 02 papers. Paper 1 and Paper 2. 

  • Paper I shall consist of 50 objective-type compulsory questions, each carrying 2 marks. The questions, which will be general, are intended to assess the teaching and research aptitude of the candidate.
  • Paper II shall consist of 100 objective-type compulsory questions, each carrying 2 marks, which will be based on the subject selected by the candidate.
  • The time duration for paper I is 01 hour, and paper 2 is 02 hours.
  • For each correct question, 2 marks shall be awarded.
  • There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
