The Indian Agricultural Research Institute (भारतीय कृषि अनुसंधान संस्थान), commonly known as the Pusa Institute, is India's National Institute for agricultural research, education and extension. IARI is under the Administrative control of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, DARE, Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi. ICAR IARI will release a recruitment notification for Assistant vacancies to be recruited at various centres. ICAR IARI Recruitment 2026 Overview

ICAR IARI Assistant Vacancy 2026

The number of vacancies for the post of Assistant will be released along with the notification by the ICAR Indian Agriculture Research Institute. Till the vacancies are announced, candidates can refer to the vacancies announced last year.

ICAR IARI Assistant 2026 Online Application

The candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria as set by the authorities for Assistant posts under ICAR Recruitment 2026 can apply online either from the official website. Step-3 A new page appears on the screen.

Step-4 ICAR IARI Application form appears on the screen.

Step-7 Click on the “Final Submit” button only after you are sure about the details filled are correct.

Pre-Requisites of ICAR IARI Application Form

1. The permissible size of the photograph must be 200 x 230 pixels (50kb - 80kb) in jpg/jpeg format. (Image should not be older than 3 weeks). 

2. Signature- 140 x 60 pixels, size between 10kb–30kb in jpg/jpeg format

3. Scanned documents should be of size 50kb – 1000kb

IARI Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Only the candidates holding the required eligibility criteria are liable to apply for Assistant posts. The required eligibility criteria include educational qualification and age limit which has been described as follows-

IARI Assistant Nationality 

A candidate applying for the said post must be either 

a) A citizen of India, 

b) A citizen of Nepal, 

c) A citizen of Bhutan, 

d) A Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India,  

e) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia Malawi, Zaira, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

IARI Assistant Education Qualification

The candidate should be a Graduate or equivalent from a recognized Board to be eligible to apply for ICAR Assistant Recruitment 2026. The candidates will have to produce the certificate/document issued by the University evidencing the conversion formula of the university when called for document verification.

IARI Assistant Age Limit 

The candidates applying for ICAR IARI Assistant Recruitment 2026 must be between 20 years to 30 years. The maximum age limit for Serving regular employees of ICAR is 45 years.

IARI Assistant 2026 Selection Process

The eligible candidates will be selected on the basis of the three-stage selection process Prelims-Mains-Skill Test conducted by the exam authority for which the syllabus & exam pattern has been provided below. The candidates shortlisted through Prelims & Mains will be called for a Skill Test (Computer Proficiency Test). 

The minimum qualifying marks in Preliminary & Mains Examinations will not be less than as follows:

1. UR : 30%
2. OBC/ EWS : 25%
3. SC/ST/Divyang : 20%

Note- Merit list will be prepared on the basis of overall performance of candidates in Paper – I, Paper-II of the Mains Examinations

ICAR IARI Assistant 2026 Exam Pattern

The authorities will conduct two written tests (Prelims & Mains) and candidates have to qualify in each exam to get shortlisted for the skill test. Have a look at the IARI Exam Pattern, marking scheme, and time duration for each stage from the below section.

ICAR IARI Assistant Prelims Exam Pattern 2026

1. There will be 100 MCQ in IARI Assistant Prelims Exam for 2 marks each.
2. There will be a negative marking for 1/3rd mark for each incorrect answer.
3. Each section consists of 25 questions.
4. The duration of completing the prelims exam is 1 hour and for scribe candidates, the duration is 1 hour 20 minutes.

ICAR IARI Assistant Mains Exam Pattern 2026

1. IARI Assistant Mains Exam consists of Paper-I will be objective type and Paper-II will be descriptive.
2. The time duration for Paper-1 is 2 hours and for Paper-II duration is 1 hour.
3. In the descriptive paper, there would be questions related to the writing of the essay, precis, letter, applications etc.

ICAR IARI Assistant Skill Test

The candidates who qualify in the Prelims & mains exam will have to appear in IARI Assistant Skill Test (Computer Proficiency Test). The duration of the Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) will be 15 minutes and modules will be conducted one after each other. IARI Assistant Skill Test is qualifying in nature. They have to appear for a Computer Proficiency Test which includes three modules- Word Processing, SpreadSheet, and Generation of Slides.

ICAR IARI Assistant Salary 2026

The selected candidates will have to undergo one-year on-the-job training. As mentioned in ICAR IARI Notification, the candidatures selected for the post of Assistant in the Indian Agriculture Research Institute will be salaried as per the department. The salary will be framed as per the 7th CPC.
