The WB State Eligibility Test (WB SET) will be held on 15th December 2024 (Sunday). The test will consist of two papers. Both papers will consist of only objective-type questions and will be held in two separate sessions.

The aspirants should keep all the necessary documents handy while filling out WB SET Application Form 2024. Steps to Apply Online WB SET Exam 2024
Candidates can apply online for WB SET 2024 through online mode from the official website West Bengal College Service Commission (WBCSC). The step-by-step process to fill out the online application form of WB SET Notification 2024 is given below:
- Visit the official website of the West Bengal College Service Commission (WBCSC) at www.wbcsconline.in
- On the homepage, click on “Apply for STATE ELIGIBILITY TEST (ADVT. NO. 26/SET)”. You will be redirected to a new page with the online application portal.
- Candidates have to do the registration process and fill in all the details like Subject, Have you qualified earlier WB SET in the same subject, and Choice of examination center 1 & 2.
- Upload all the required documents including your passport-size photograph, signature, certificates, etc.
- Recheck all the details of your application form before proceeding to the payment page.
- Pay the application fees as mentioned category-wise. and click on the submit button.
- Save and download the WB SET Application Form for future reference.
WB SET 2024 Application Fee
While submitting the WB SET Application Form 2024 candidates are required to pay an amount of application fee as per category. Candidates from the general category have to pay Rs. 1300/- and candidates from OBC/ EWS are required to pay Rs. 650/- and candidates from SC/ST/PWD/ Transgender application fee is Rs. 325/-. Candidates can submit their application fee through by credit card/ debit card/internet banking. The application fee is non-refundable and without the application fee application form will not be accepted.

WB SET Notification 2024 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must ensure that they fulfill all eligibility parameters as set by the exam authority to be eligible to apply online for the WB State Eligibility Test. The candidate’s eligibility will be determined in terms of educational qualification. Check WB SET eligibility criteria from here.
Educational Qualification
- Candidates must have completed their Master’s Degree OR equivalent Examination from Universities/Institutions recognized by UGC.
- Candidates from the General/EWS category must have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in the Master’s Degree OR equivalent Examination.
- Candidates from Other Backward Classes(OBC) belonging to the non-creamy layer/ Scheduled Caste(SC) /Scheduled Tribe(ST)/ persons with disability(PWD)/ Transgender category have to secure at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent Examination to be eligible for this Test.
- The Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level Examination had been completed by 19th September 1991(irrespective of the date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e. from 55% to 50%) for appearing in SET.
Note: Students pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent, or those who have taken their final exams and are waiting for the results, are eligible to apply for this test. They will be considered eligible for the Assistant Professor position only after passing their Master’s degree or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% for OBC/SC/ST/PWD/Transgender). These candidates must complete their degree within two years of the SET result with the required percentage of marks, or they will be disqualified.
Age Limit
There is no upper age limit for applying for the West Bengal State Eligibility Test (WB SET). Thus, there is no West Bengal SET age limit. Candidates with the minimum educational requirements can apply for this exam.
WB SET Exam Pattern 2024
- The WB SET Exam will consist of Objective Type multiple-choice questions.
- The exam consists of 02 papers. Paper 1 and Paper 2.
- Paper-I shall consist of 50 objective-type compulsory questions, each carrying 2 marks. The questions which will be general, are intended to assess the teaching, and research aptitude of the candidate.
- Paper II shall consist of 100 objective-type compulsory questions, each carrying 2 marks which will be based on the subject selected by the candidate.
- The time duration for papaer I is 01 hour and papaer 2 is 02 hours.
- For each correct question, 2 marks shall be awarded.
- There is no negative marking for incorrect answer.

WB SET 2024- Minimum Qualifying Marks
To be declared qualified in WB SET 2024, candidates must have appeared in both papers and obtained a minimum of 40% aggregate marks in both papers combined for the General (Unreserved) category/EWS candidates. For candidates belonging to reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC belonging to Non-Creamy Layer, PWD, and Transgender), the minimum aggregate mark required is 35% in both papers combined.
