WB Police SI Eligibility Criteria 2026

Educational Qualification
- The candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an institution that is equivalent to a recognised university.
- Degrees obtained through distance education/open universities are accepted only if the institution is recognised by UGC/AICTE/State Government.
Language Proficiency
- Candidates must be able to read, write, and speak Bengali.
- Exception: Permanent residents of Darjeeling and Kalimpong hill subdivisions (they will be governed by West Bengal Official Language Act, 1961).
- Candidates who studied Hindi/Urdu/Nepali and are selected must clear a departmental exam in Bengali during probation for confirmation.
Age Limit
The candidates who are willing to apply for the post of Sub Inspector must not be less than 20 years of age and must not exceed the upper age limit, i.e., 30 years.
