• Must be registered as a Female Nurse Midwife with the West Bengal Nursing Council.
• Must know Bengali or Nepali, both spoken and written.

For GNM, the candidate must:

• Have passed General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) from a Nursing Training School recognized by both the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and the respective State Nursing Council.
• Be registered as a Female/Male Nurse Midwife with the West Bengal Nursing Council.
• Have knowledge of Bengali or Nepali (spoken).

Age Limit

• To be eligible for the Staff Nurse post, candidates must be at least 18 years old. The maximum age limit for applicants is 39 years.
• Married Women (Name Change): If you have changed your surname after marriage and do not have an official document, you can submit:
  (i) Marriage Registration Certificate, OR
  (ii) If not available, an Affidavit before a Judicial or Executive Magistrate confirming the name change.
• Age relaxation is available for SC, ST, OBC, and Persons with Disabilities as per government rules.

WB Staff Nurse Selection Process 2026

The selection process for West Bengal Staff Nurse Recruitment 2026 will be conducted in multiple stages:

• Written Examination and Interview: Depending on the number of applications, candidates are shortlisted based on the qualifications required to appear for a written exam.
• Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for verification of original documents.
• Medical Examination: Selected candidates will undergo a medical fitness test.

WBHRB Staff Nurse & GNM Exam Pattern 2026

Selected candidates for Staff Nurse & GNM posts will get a monthly salary of Rs. 39,500 and will also get extra perks and allowances like HRA, DA, and medical allowance, as per the 7th Pay Commission.
