The number of vacancies in different services and posts to be filled up on the results of the examination will be announced in due time. Posts of some groups may not be filled based on the examination results if vacancies for the same are not reported by the concerned Department within the stipulated time for filling such vacancies.

WBCS Eligibility Criteria 2025-26
WBPSC Eligibility has been released in the official WBCS 2025-26 notification. The WBCS eligibility criteria are the minimum requirements for applying for the WBCS Examination.
WBCS Nationality
As per the WBCS 2025-26 eligibility criteria, the candidate must be
(a) A citizen of India (either natural or by registration), or
(b) Such other nationals as declared eligible by the Govt. of India.
WBCS Education Qualification
As per the WBCS 2025-26 educational qualification criteria, the candidate must hold a graduate degree i.e an undergraduate degree in any discipline from any recognised University. Additionally, the aspirant should have the ability to read, write and speak in Bengali (not required for those aspirants whose mother tongue is Nepali).
WBCS Age Limit (as on 01/01/2024)
WBPSC has notified the WBCS age limit for the WB civil services examination for all the Group Services. The details of the WBCS age limit are given below.

WBCS Age Relaxation
The WBCS age limit for SC and WBCS age limit for ST enjoy age relaxation as per the WBPSC Notification. The WBCS Age Relaxation for various categories is mentioned below:

WBCS 2025-26 Application Fee
The WBCS application fees are a non-refundable amount for all categories. However, SC/ST candidates of WB State and Persons with disabilities (40% and above) having a physical disability are not required to pay any WBCS application fee.

Steps to fill the WBCS Online Form 2025-26
The candidates holding the required eligibility can submit their WBCS 2025-26 Registration Form through online mode only. Follow the steps below to fill out the WBCS Application Form 2025-26.
Step-1 Visit the official website of West Bengal Public Service Commission @https://psc.wb.gov.in/.
Step-2 Before applying for the examination, the candidates are required to enrol themselves by clicking on “ONE TIME REGISTRATION” appearing on the right side of the homepage.
Step-3 Fill in the required details to get the registration number & password.
Step-4 Click on “Login if Already Registered” and submit the registration number, password, and captcha code.
Step-5 Enter education qualification, age, and other details required in the WBCS Application Form.
Step-6 Pay the requisite application fee through online mode.
Step-7 Submit the WBCS Application Form after thorough verification of the details filled.
Step-8 Download a copy of the WBCS Application Form for future reference.
WBCS Exam Pattern 2025-26
As per the WBCS Exam, the selection includes three phases-
- Preliminary exam
- Main Exam
- Personality Test
The marks obtained in this examination by the candidates in the Prelims Exam will not be considered for final selection. Only those candidates who will be declared qualified at the Preliminary Examination in a year shall be eligible for admission to the W.B.C.S.(Exe.) etc. (Main) Examination of that year.
WBCS Prelims Exam Pattern 2026
- The Preliminary Examination is meant to serve as a Screening Test only for the purpose of selection of candidates for the Main Examination.
- The Preliminary Examination will consist of only one paper, viz., a paper on “General Studies”.
- The paper will be of an objective type consisting of 200 multiple-choice questions. The paper will carry 200 marks and will be of 2½ hours duration.
- The standard of the paper will be of the level of knowledge as expected of a graduate of any faculty of a recognized University.
- The paper will include questions covering the following fields of knowledge:

- The Main Examination shall consist of six compulsory papers and one optional subject consisting of two papers (Only for candidates applying for group A and/or B) to be chosen by the candidates from the list of optional subjects given below.
- There will be two papers of the optional subject of 200 marks.
- Each paper, Compulsory or Optional, will carry 200 marks and will be of 3 hours duration.

WBCS Interview
A number of candidates selected in order of merit on the results of the Main Examination for all the services and posts included in Groups A, B, C and D shall have to appear at a Personality Test. Each candidate will be asked questions on matters of general interest. The object of the test will be to assess the candidate’s personal qualities e.g., alertness of mind, power of clear and logical exposition, intellectual and moral integrity, leadership, and also the candidate’s range of interests.
WBCS Minimum Qualifying Marks
The WBCS has set category-wise qualifying marks that candidates must secure in the aggregate, which includes the combined marks of the Written Examination and the Personality Test. The WBCS Minimum Qualifying Marks are as follows-

WBCS 2026 Result
The results of the WBCS 2026 exam will be available at least a month before the WBCS exam date for each stage. The candidates qualifying the prelims exam will be eligible to appear in the Mains exam, and only the candidates qualifying the Mains exam will be called for an interview/personality test. The final result will be prepared as per the marks obtained inthe Mains & Interview Round.
