Every year, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha, conducts the Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) to assess the eligibility of candidates for teaching positions in Classes I to VIII in government, private aided, and private unaided schools across the state. For the year 2026, it is expected to be held in third week of May 2026, for which application forms are to be released in March 2026 at https://www.bseodisha.ac.in/.

OTET Exam Date 2026 Out
As per the notice released on 12th February 2026, Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) 2026 will be held in 3rd week of May 2026 and the exact exam schedule will be released shortly along with official notification.

OTET 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Though Odisha TET is an eligibility test, however, there are certain eligibility criteria that candidates must have to follow while filling out their OTET Application Form 2026. There is no specific age limit for the OTET Exam, but a minimum education qualification is required. Below, we have discussed the OTET Eligibility 2026 for primary and upper primary teachers.
Eligibility Criteria for Paper-I (Primary Teacher for Classes I to V)
- Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
- Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed), following NCTE regulations.
- Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
- Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
- Graduation and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
Eligibility Criteria for Paper-II (Upper Primary Teacher for Classes VI to VIII)
- Graduation and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
- Graduation with at least 50% marks and a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
- Graduation with at least 45% marks and a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with NCTE regulations.
- Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
- Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed. or B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed.
- Graduation with at least 50% marks and a 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).
OTET 2026 Application Fee
The OTET application form will be submitted successfully only when the required application fee is submitted. Candidates from the SC and ST categories have to pay Rs. 400/- and for candidates from the general category application fee is Rs. 600/-. Payment shall also be made through online mode with the HDFC payment gateway

Steps to Apply Online for OTET Exam 2026
Before going for registration, the candidate shall have to read the instructions, eligibility & applicability for appearing at the OTET-2026. - Visit the official website of the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha, Cuttack at www.bseodisha.ac.in.
- On the homepage tab on Examination >OTET Examination> Online Application for Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test OTET- 2026> Go to Link.
- Candidates are redirected to a new page. If you have already registered, click the “Login” button; otherwise, click on “New Registration” to register.
- On clicking “New Registration”, the OTET-2026 page will be displayed. Enter your name, password (to be created by you), and Mobile No. & e-mail ID, and then click on the Submit tab. (You will have to enter OTP, which shall be sent to your registered mobile no and email ID).
- Submit your application forms by providing personal information, eligibility criteria, educational qualifications, and address.
- Click on the Payment & Declaration tab to submit the application fee as per category, and then click on the Final Submit tab.
OTET 2026 Exam Pattern & Syllabus
The exam pattern for Paper 1 and Paper 2 is as follows.
- There are 150 questions for Papers 1 and 2 each.
- The duration of the examination is 150 minutes.
- Each correct answer gives 1 mark.
- There will be no negative marking.

OTET 2026 Minimum Qualifying Marks
Based on candidates' performance in the Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET 2026), candidates will be declared qualified in the OTET written exam. To qualify, the candidates have to score a minimum of the marks as mentioned in the notification and table below.
