MPESB Police Constable Normalisation Process
The MP Police Constable exam is conducted in multiple shifts. The difficulty level of the question paper may vary across different shifts, potentially giving some candidates an advantage or disadvantage. To address this inequality, a normalisation process is adopted. Under the normalisation process, the marks obtained by candidates are adjusted using a standardised formula to ensure that candidates from all shifts have equal opportunities. The main objective of this process is to ensure that candidates from any particular shift do not receive any undue advantage or disadvantage and that the selection process remains completely fair.
MP Police Constable Normalisation Formula
The normalised marks (Mij) of the jth candidate in the ith shift are calculated using the following formula:
Mij = ( (Mgt – Mgq) / (Mti – Miq) ) × (Mij – Miq) + Mgq
Meaning of Terms Used in the Normalisation Formula
The meaning of all the terms used in the normalisation formula is explained below:
Mgt = Average marks of the top 0.1% candidates across all shifts
Mgq = Mean of the marks of all candidates + Standard Deviation
Mti = Average marks of the top 0.1% candidates in the ith shift
Miq = Mean of the marks of the candidates in the ith shift + Standard Deviation
Mij = Normalised marks of the jth candidate in the ith shift
