How Normalisation Works in DRDO CEPTAM 11?
Normalisation of marks is applied to ensure fairness among candidates, as the Tier 1 CBT was conducted across multiple sessions and shifts. Here’s how the process goes:
- The difficulty may have been different for each shift. Raw marks cannot be directly compared across shifts.
- DRDO then applies a normalisation formula (similar to the one followed by NTA) for each candidate to get a normalised score.
- The cut-offs and merit ranking are based on the normalised score and not on the raw marks.
- Candidates should look at the normalised score shown on their scorecard and not the raw marks.
Example: A candidate who scored 58 raw marks in a tougher shift may receive a higher normalised score than a candidate who scored 60 marks in an easier shift.
What's Next After the DRDO CEPTAM 11 Result 2026?
As the DRDO CEPTAM 11 Tier 1 result is out, the candidates who are declared qualified in the CBT 1 exam are eligible to appear for the next stage of the selection process, i.e., the CBT 2 exam. After that, the qualified candidates will be called for a trade or skill test.
Tier 2 Exam Pattern
Candidates who qualify in tier 1 will appear for Tier 2, which is also a computer-based test (CBT) for which the pattern is as follows –
| Post | Subjects | No. of Questions | Marks | Duration |
| STA-B | Core Subject General English Quantitative Aptitude | 100 | 100 | 120 minutes |
| Tech-A | Trade-Specific Technical Paper | 100 | 100 | 90 minutes |
- Negative Marking – ⅓ mark for each wrong answer
- Medium – English & Hindi
- Tier 2 score carries significantly higher weightage in final merit list
