Nobel Prize Winners in Chemistry 2022: The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2022 has been awarded to Scientists Carolyn R. Bertozzi, K. Barry Sharpless and Morten Meldal for their work in “the field of click chemistry and bioorthogonal chemistry”. In winning the award on 05th October 2022, Dr. Sharpless became only the fifth person to win two Nobels, having received the chemistry prize in 2001 for his work on chirally catalyzed oxidation reactions. Dr. Bertozzi also became the eighth woman to be awarded the chemistry prize. Click chemistry and bioorthogonal reactions have taken chemistry to another level. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry annually to scientists in the various fields of chemistry.
