National Cancer Awareness Day- 7th November 2022

National Cancer Day is observed on 7th November every year to coincide with the birth anniversary of Marie Curie, who was known for her contribution to the fight against cancer. National Cancer Awareness Day in India is celebrated to raise awareness about cancer, of which 1.1 million cases are reported in the country each year. National Cancer Awareness Day was first announced in September 2014 by then Union health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, with November 7 chosen for the occasion to coincide with the birth anniversary of Nobel laureate Marie Curie

World Radiography Day – 8th November

World Radiography Day is celebrated as the day which marks the anniversary of the birth of X-rays. X-ray plays a huge role in the medical industry as one of the diagnostic tools that help doctors to detect a wide variety of problems, and diagnose diseases to treat them better and in a timely manner.

Guru Nanak Dev’s Birth Anniversary – 8th November

It is considered to be one of the most important days of Sikhism and marks the birth anniversary of the first of the ten Sikh gurus and the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev Ji. It is observed every year on the full moon date of the Kartik month or Kartik Purnima. 

National Legal Services Day – 9th November

National Legal Services Day is marked every year on 9th November to commemorate  the commencement of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 which came into force on this day in the year 1995. This day was established with a directive to offer support and help to weaker sections of society including Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, women, disabled persons, natural calamities victims, and human trafficking victims.

National Education Day- 11th November 2022

National Education Day is celebrated on 11th November in remembrance of the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. He was the first Minister of Education in independent India. National Education Day was announced to be celebrated on 11th November by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in 2008. The theme of National Education Day 2022 is “Changing Course, Transforming Education.”

World Pneumonia Day – 12th November 2022

Pneumonia is the world’s most contagious disease killer of children and adults. The mortality rate of this infectious disease is that it alone kills more children than the combined death caused by AIDS, measles, and malaria. So in order to spread awareness among people to understand the need to stand together and fight against this contagious disease, World Pneumonia Day is celebrated on 12th November every year.

Children’s Day- 14th November 2022

Children’s Day or Bal Diwas is celebrated every year in India on 14th November, to memorialize the birth anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru. Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru was fondly, lovingly & popularly known as “Chacha Nehru” among children. Before 1964, India celebrated Children’s Day on 20th November, however, after the death of Pt. Nehru in 1964, it was decided that his birthday will be celebrated as Children’s Day.

National Epilepsy Day – 17th November 2022

November 17 is observed annually as National Epilepsy Day in India. This day was observed by the Epilepsy Foundation, to create awareness about epilepsy. Epilepsy is a central nervous system disorder that causes the brain to become inactive causing seizures or periods of unusual behaviour, and sensations and leading to loss of awareness. The month of November is celebrated as ‘National Epilepsy Awareness Month.

International Students’ Day – 17th November 2022

International Students’ Day is observed on November 17. This day commemorates the bravery of thousands of students in Prague who fought for national pride and the right to higher education. In the year 1939, Nazi forces arrested and executed protesters without trial and sent over 1,200 students to concentration camps. Many of them did not survive. International Students’ Day is observed in remembrance of their sacrifice.

World Toilet Day- 19th November

Almost half of the global population suffers a lack of safe sanitation and every day, over 800 children die due to diarrhoea linked to unsafe water, sanitation and poor hygiene.

United Nations designated 19 November as World Toilet Day in order to break the taboos relating to sanitation and make it a global priority.

International Men’s Day- 19th November

International Men’s Day was first time celebrated in 1999 by Dr Jerome Teelucksingh, a Professor of History, at the University of the West Indies. He celebrated this day to commemorate his father’s birth anniversary. He further encouraged everyone to use this day to bring up issues that are related to the physical mental and emotional health of men around the world. 

Africa Industrialization Day – 20th November

This day is celebrated on the 20th of November annually. This day aims to gather governments and other organizations in many African countries to examine ways to energize Africa’s industrialization process. 

Universal Children’s Day – 20th November

World Children’s Day was established in the year 1954 as Universal Children’s Day and is celebrated on 20 November every year to promote international togetherness and awareness among children all over the world. The importance of this day is that on this day UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child.

World Television Day – 21st November

On 21 and 22 November 1996, the UN for the first time held the first World Television Forum, where leading media figures met to discuss the growing significance of television in today’s advancing world to consider how they might enhance their mutual cooperation.

International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women- 25th November 2022

This day in November is observed by UNGA as International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women to raise awareness among the people that women are subjected to various acts of violence such as rape, domestic abuse, etc. 

Constitution Day or Law Day- 26th November 2022

Constitution Day is celebrated in our country on 26th November every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. Constitution Day is also known with the name ‘Samvidhan Divas’. On 26th November 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India, which came into effect on 26th January 1950.
