Global Hunger Index 2022 Report
Global Hunger Index 2022: Global Hunger Index has been initiated in 2000 by the European NGOs – Concern Worldwide and Welthungerhilfe. The aim of the Global Hunger Index (GHI) is to track the prevalence of global hunger by region and by country. The Global Hunger Index scores are based on the values of four component indicators – undernourishment, child stunting, child wasting, child mortality. According to the methodology of the Global Hunger Index, a score less than 9.9 is considered ‘low’, 10-19.9 is ‘moderate’, 20-34.9 is ‘serious’, 35-49.9 is ‘alarming’, and above 50 is ‘extremely alarming’. Of the 121 countries on the Global Hunger Index, India (107) is ranked behind its neighbours Nepal (81), Pakistan (99), Sri Lanka (64), and Bangladesh (84).
